Blue My Mind (2017) feat. The More Deadly Podcast

Swallow that fish and peel the skin off your legs because we're discussing Lisa Brühlmann's aquatic coming-of-age film Blue My Mind (2017)! Tagging in for the conversation are Rachel and Ariel of The More Deadly Podcast!
Join us as we dive in (ha ha) to this tale (ha ha) of a young girl who starts turning into a mermaid after getting her first period. From angsty teen antics (CW: sexual assault, self-harm) to questionable dietary changes, Blue My Mind is a fascinating journey into the mind of the teenage girl.
Plus: questioning some countries' ages of consent, one strict foreplay mantra, Joe's history as an arsonist(????) and the transgressive nature of on-screen menstrual blood.

    Alien (1979)

    Alien (1979)

Grab Jonesy the cat and prep the explosives because we're celebrating the 45th anniversary of Ridley Scott's Alien (1979).
This film is all about reproduction and gender (roles) from Sigourney Weaver's iconic performance as Ripley to the male rape of Kane to the evolving form of the Alien.
It's also an incredible technical feat, a take-down of capitalism, and a reason why you should never trust Ian Holm when he's dissecting.

Mysterious Skin (2004) feat. Clint Worthington

Mysterious Skin (2004) feat. Clint Worthington

Look out for UFOs and stay away from Froot Loops because we're discussing Gregg Araki's tender-yet-traumatizing adaptation Mysterious Skin (2004). Tagging in for the conversation is RogerEbert.com Assistant Editor and The Spool founder & EIC Clint Worthington.
Join us as we have many difficult conversations about a film filled to the brim with controversial subject matter. From Joseph Gordon Levitt and Brady Corbet's heartbreaking performances to the accurate depiction of the long-term effects of child sex abuse, there's no shortage of things to talk about.
Plus: a defense of the single working mother, praise for Michelle Trachtenberg, MPAA woes (again) and the journey of Scott Heim's source novel from page to screen.

An amazing pod for all lovers of queer horror

This is an amazing pod. Been listening since the first year and been hooked since. The strength of the pod is the humor and depth. In many ways because of the horror genre itself that always balance the two.

The perfect horror movie podcast!

I feel like this podcast was made for me, and I’m pretty sure many others will feel the same way if they give it a listen.
Each episode they discuss, review and analyze a horror movie. It’s everything from old classics to b-movies to brand new ones. And they always keep a good balance when they talk. It’s funny, but the humor is never distracting. It’s informative and enlightening but never to dry or heavy (like many other horror movie podcasts can be). They’re truly passionate about horror movies but never assume the listener knows everything they know. It quickly became my favorite podcast after I gave it a try.
I also have to add that the sound is top-notch quality, even from the beginning.
