Dont confuse religion with power. Power is corrupting. Countries that seperate State and religion provide more justice and equality than Islamic countries. Dar al-Aman and Dar al-Harb (abode of peace and abode of war) are excuses to wage war for power.

Hadith is the most influential and most misleading part of a Muslim's life. Early Muslims understood the difference between Muhammad the messenger and Muhammad the human. Equating any human to God is a sin. While there is value in hadith, many are fabricated to justify wars of empire, clergy control over the faithful and control over women. Hadith is where the salafi find support for their fundamentalism, misogyny and terror.

Religious scriptures were never meant to be read literally. The Quran too has messages in metaphors. When it says the Prophet went on a winged horse to meet God, it should not be taken literally. Even heaven and hell are metaphors. Why would a soul need a pillow or honey in heaven? It means that the soul would be comfortable, without pain or fears of this life.
