Role of Swabhav & Swadharma in Professional Careers
This is the Episode # 50 on the India Career Centre Podcast.
I hosted Mr. Naveen Badrinarayan on the show to talk about "Role of Swabhav & Swadharma in Professional Careers."
Swabhav (Innate Nature): Swabhav refers to an individual’s inherent nature, traits, and capacities. It encompasses a person’s unique qualities, tendencies, and inclinations. Swabhav guides how a person naturally thinks, behaves, and responds to various situations. Understanding one’s Swabhav is crucial for self-awareness and personal growth.
Swadharma (Righteous Duty): Swadharma means practicing one’s own dharma or duty. It includes an individual’s unique responsibilities, duties, and righteousness. Swadharma aligns with an individual’s innate nature (Swabhav). It emphasizes that each person has a specific purpose and role in the universe. Following one’s Swadharma leads to a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Role in Career:
Swabhav influences career choices: Understanding your natural inclinations helps you choose a career aligned with your strengths and interests. It guides you toward fields where you can thrive and contribute effectively.
Swadharma shapes career decisions: Identifying your righteous duties and responsibilities in a professional context ensures ethical conduct. Following your Swadharma leads to job satisfaction and a sense of purpose. It helps you make decisions that resonate with your inner values.
Balancing Swabhav and Swadharma: Recognize your unique traits (Swabhav). Align your career choices with your innate nature. Fulfill your duties and responsibilities with integrity (Swadharma).

Present & Future Career Opportunities in Aviation Industry
This is EP # 49.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a United Nations agency that helps 193 countries cooperate and share their skies to their mutual benefit.
The current projection of global passenger volume in 2023 is approximately 8.7 billion passengers, which is 95% of the 2019 level, or 31% year-on-year (YoY) growth from the 2022 volume.
There are more than 5,000 airlines in the world.
There are an average of 9,728 planes carrying 1,270,406 passengers in the sky at any given time.
IATA's mission is to represent, lead and serve the airline industry. Membership in IATA amounts to some 320 airlines in 120 countries.
Over the past 10 years, our website's database has grown from around 10,000 airports around the world to now featuring over 40,000 airports, strips, fields or heliports.
Aircraft are taking off around the world at a rate of over 400 departures per hour, and that’s only scheduled commercial traffic.
The United States was the country with the highest number of airports in the world. In 2022, there were over 13,513 airports in the North American country.
The global market for airlines, estimated at US$638.7 billion in 2023, is projected to reach a revised size of US$1.1 trillion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 7.6% over the analysis period of 2023–2030.
According to ICAO, the aviation sector is growing fast and will continue to grow. The most recent estimates suggest that demand for air transport will increase by an average of 4.3% per year over the next 20 years.
If this growth path is achieved by 2036, the air transport industry will then contribute 15.5 million in direct jobs and $1.5 trillion of GDP to the world economy. Once the impacts of global tourism are taken into account, these numbers could rise to 97.8 million jobs and $5.7 trillion in GDP.

Interview with JECRC FM Radio Station Jaipur
What do you perceive as your greatest professional asset?
– I have had the opportunity to travel across the length and breadth of India.
I have travelled extensively to over 100+ town and cities within India and to
over 25 cities in abroad. When you travel extensively, you expand the horizon
and world view. Amongst all other things, I value this aspect of my
professional career as the greatest asset.
Could you provide a concise overview of your professional
history? – Yes, certainly. My entire professional career was in the field of
Construction Equipment Sector, spanning over 22.5 years. I started my career
with a German Multi National, as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1997. Worked
with the organization in two stints for about 6 years (in between these two
stints I did my MBA from Pondicherry, Central University). My second company
was a British MNC, with which I was associated for over 16.5 years. I joined
them as an Area Manager and my last position held was, National Sales Head for
a Product line.
What strategies do you recommend for parents to ensure
their children's responsible use of social media? – Social media have become
essential part of our lives. In fact, the Gen Z and Gen Alpha are also called
the digital natives. However, if we don’t control the usage social media from
the beginning, it can have a very harmful effect on our younger generations.
Young Children at home replicate what they see at home, essentially, they model
the behaviour of their own parents, elders at home. So, the most important
strategy would be to model as good and responsible parents and elders at home
with respect to use of social media. Some of the simple techniques I follow as
a parent, are; Phone always in zero notification mode, No personal Facebook or
Instagram Accounts, No mobile hours (between 9 pm to 9 am) etc. If the parents
can follow these, I am sure the children also will adopt them eventually.
In what ways does parenting differ when raising multiple
children, and are there strategies to navigate these challenges? – Today, India
average reproduction rate is about 2.14 in 2023, which means on an average most
of the young Indian couples have either 1/2/3 child. As a parent myself, I feel
two children is ideal for the family and also for the children’s cognitive
development. While raising a single child is less expensive, the social skills
of a single child may take more time to develop as he/she may not another
sibling at home to interact with. In today’s time, more than two children is a
luxury keeping in mind the cost of everything required to raise a child. This
is my personal opinion, but it all depends on the individuals’ own choices and
we should leave it at that.
What advice do you have for newlywed couples or
first-time parents? - Whatever good
values you want in your child/children start behaving or modelling them at
home. Because the young children at home are constantly learning from what they
see around themselves and especially at their parents/elders.
How do you view the growing generation gap between
parents and children? – The concept of generation gap has happened in the past
and will continue to happen in the future as well. The reason being every
generation experiences the world in a different way in their childhood. Broadly
post the world war, the generations from different eras are termed as
The silent generation (born before 1945), Baby Boomers
(born between 1946 to 1964), Gen X (1965 to 1976), Gen Y (1977 to 1995), Gen Z
(1996 to 2011) & Gen Alpha (2012 till present)
In every era the world was a different place in every
aspect. Hence the gap between the generations. This is very normal, and we have
parents, teachers, mentors have to learn and adapt with the new generation
kids. -

All you need to know about Overseas Education
This is Ep # 47.
In 2023, the demand for overseas education surged, with a substantial increase in the number of Indian students choosing to pursue higher education abroad. Recent data indicates that approximately 8,50,000 Indian students are enrolled in universities and colleges across the “big four” destinations: the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.
Breaking down this enrollment further, it is observed that the following is the distribution:
Postgraduate Programs: Postgraduate courses accounted for 60% of the total student population. These students sought advanced degrees such as master’s and doctoral programs.
UG and PG Diploma Courses: A significant 25% of students opted for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) diploma courses. These shorter-term programs provide specialized knowledge and practical skills.
Undergraduate Studies: Undergraduate students constituted 15% of the total enrollment. They pursued bachelor’s degrees across various disciplines.
The allure of quality education, global exposure, and career prospects continues to drive Indian students toward international universities.
In 2024, we will see similar growth in overseas recruitment with much broader bases and the development of a larger number of destinations.
If you are planning to take higher education abroad, reach out to us at sp.mishra@indiacareercentre.com or +919963300577 for comprehensive guidance in the process.
Planning to study abroad involves several crucial stages. We can break down the process into 8 steps:
Counselling:
Seek advice from a study abroad consultant. They provide information about university options, admission processes, scholarships, visa requirements, and other essential aspects. Consultants help you identify the right course, country, and university based on your academic background, preferences, and budget.
Course, Country, & University Selection:
Research and choose the course, country, and university that align with your academic goals. Consider factors such as curriculum, faculty, facilities, cost of living, language requirements, cultural norms, and weather conditions.
Standardized Test Preparation:
Many universities require English language proficiency tests (such as IELTS or TOEFL) and standardized exams (like the GRE or GMAT). Prepare well in advance by enrolling in test preparation courses, taking practice tests, and using study materials.
Admission and Acceptance:
Apply to your chosen university. Follow their admission guidelines and submit the required documents. Await acceptance letters and respond promptly.
Application for Scholarships:
Explore scholarship opportunities. Apply for scholarships based on merit, need, or specific criteria. Scholarships can significantly reduce your financial burden.
Arrange Your Finances:
Understand the cost of tuition, accommodation, and living expenses.
Explore funding options, including personal savings, loans, sponsorships, and scholarships.
Visas, Entry Papers, and Passports:
Apply for a student visa in your chosen country. Gather necessary documents, attend interviews, and follow the visa process. Ensure your passport is valid throughout your study period.
Departure Preparations and Essentials:
Book flights, arrange accommodations, and plan your arrival. Familiarize yourself with local customs, health insurance, emergency contacts, and essential items to carry.
