    Repeat After Me

    Repeat After Me

    Summary

Sometimes I don’t know where a podcast is going until I get there. This is one of those times.

I’m not sure if this qualifies as an extension of the last podcast or a new one in its own right. I share my frustrations with what all parents have to do with their children: Constantly repeat ourselves.

    Show Notes

There is no music except for the opening sting and legal disclaimer bed at the end. It’s just me sharing with you, and coming to some conclusions as the conversation evolves.

    Credits

The legal disclaimer at the end is read by my middle son three weeks shy of his eleventh birthday, after the brief cut from the intro music of “Person of Interest” by Ramin Djawadi, it is read over a bed of an instrumental by Erasure, the music-only version of “Piano Song” off their 1989 album “Wild!”

    We're Not Gonna Take It

    We're Not Gonna Take It

    Summary

I’m a bit touchy in this one. Taking a cue from a phone call from a friend who was feeling pretty lousy about the prospects of continuing on in the ManHusbandDad way, particularly in wondering what the point was, I relate that discussion and a few songs to the way Men, Husbands, and Dads are treated by society – and sometimes the people closest to us – and I kinda come out swinging! It was a bad week in my life, too…

But, I finish with some advice from a Dad who knows exactly where we’ve all been..since He’s had to deal with us forever!

    Show Notes

The opening monologue is “ducked” under by a bed of music called “91 Steps (+24 Mix)” by Erasure:

I’m a but frustrated with a Selsun Blue ad. Here it is:

I slam right into Twisted Sister pretty quickly into the show. It’s been that kind of week…

Harry Chapin chimes in with his most famous song. This one gets me every time:

The show concludes with the song by Sanctus Real called “Lead me.” You may notice this is my unofficial theme song for ManHusbandDad:

    Credits

I’ve changed the intro for a few reasons. The one used on the debut episode for this show was not necessarily approprate and I’ve found a better use for it: Introducing the Radio show it was used for over twenty years ago. My friend Chris and I have re-launched our show, and you can find out more about it – and listen to it – at DuckSoupInADawgBowl.com.

The legal disclaimer at the end is read by my middle son three weeks shy of his eleventh birthday, after the brief cut from the intro music of “Person of Interest” by Ramin Djawadi, it is read over a bed of another instrumental by Erasure, this time the music-only version of “Piano Song” off their 1989 album “Wild!”

    Introducing ManHusbandDad™

    Introducing ManHusbandDad™

    Summary

Kristofer covers some of his background and the impetus for starting ManHusbandDad, revealing the ongoing struggles with the calling and the vocation while trying to understand and follow God’s will instead of his own. He describes the evolution of the concept, explaining it’s ongoing development and his own fears and concerns about it while explaining also his own development.

    Show Notes

Father Albert Haase, OFM is mentioned, along with Kristofer’s relationship with his Spiritual Director and a lesson he learned from him at a retreat that became the seed for ManHusbandDad.

Here are the three songs Kristofer highlights as part of a ManHusbandDad regimen for fun, education, and contemplation when you are with your kids, by yourself, or just with your wife.

Just two minutes into the show, first up is “Greater” by Mercy Me:

Kristofer discusses how his family responds when this show comes on the Radio, and mentions this Sign Language version.

Kristofer takes another break about fifteen minutes in to play “I’ll find my way home” by Jon (Anderson) and Vangelis, afterward sharing how his understanding of the song relative to his life as a ManHusbandDad now and as an atheist when he first heard it has changed:

The show concludes with the song by Sanctus Real called “Lead me.” Kristofer sets up this song as the overalll theme of ManHusbandDad’s philosophy and community, recognizing that we can’t do this alone:

    Credits

The intro to the show is a mix created by Kristofer when he was an on-air DJ in the early- to mid-1990s. It features the opening track from Janet Jackson‘s “Rhythm Nation” mixed with a sped up rendition of Jimmy Osmond‘s “Long haired lover from Liverpool” through actual “scratching” done by Kristofer back in the day, with the music bed that Kristofer talks over coming from Electronic’s “Lucky Bag.”

The legal disclaimer at the end is read by Kristofer’s middle son three weeks shy of his eleventh birthday, after the brief cut from the intro music of “Person of Interest” by Ramin Djawadi.
