Talks with a TCK Friend Marie Suazo

Our guest today talks about her experience of what it's been like to be a teacher (among other things) to TCKs at different international schools, what it's like to move her family across the globe and the different joys and struggles she has faced in in her journey.




Amy is originally from the corn fields of Illinois, USA, became an adult and made a family in the beautiful mountains of Venezuela, currently living in the lovely warmth of Malaysia. My passion has always been student care, but this has expanded over the years to caring for not only students but their teachers and their parents as well. I will always be a barista at heart and my favourite place is sitting in a café enjoying live music.

He finds joy in working with multicultural families and families who communicate across generational and cultural divides. He's served internationally (in East Asia, Europe, South East Asia, Middle East and South America) for over 20 years. He also grew up in a diverse home with a mom from the Philippines and dad from the Bahamas.

Ever wanted to travel with your pets, but didn't know where to begin? In today's episode our guest Emily Wilson will be joining us as she talks about how she hops around the globe with her furry friends.




Emily is a TCK who went back and forth between California and South Africa, she and her family treated our jack russell like family. He came with them on their travels. So, when she got my first dog as an adult , it made complete sense to bring her from Kenya back to California and a few years later she went with them to Ecuador before returning to California.

"We love traveling and we love our dogs. It’s not always easy to combine the two especially when that means getting on flights or crossing borders. That's why I created Pets Around the World because I know there are others who would like to move or visit somewhere new and they want to bring their pets with them. " - Emily Wilson

Lynette Allcock Yoon is a writer, teacher, and former radio host. She grew up between three countries as a Third Culture Kid (TCK), and now lives in South Korea with her husband. She writes about culture, faith, and relationships from an expat, TCK perspective.
