    Podcast 1 - Marketing Academy

Hey folks, welcome to the first episode of the marketing Academy podcast. Now, this is going to be a quick episode, just to get things
Christopher Gutierrez: rolling. So today what we're going to be talking about is keyword cannibalization. now it's something that's been. debated across a search engine optimization experts for a while, and it appears to be, more of an issue than beneficial to some more than others.
Now, what is keyword cannibalization? Now? Basically what that means in a, in a, in a nutshell is that keywords, Allow you to rank on Google right now. Some people want to rank keywords for, one particular keyword, like a case study or marketing. Now. There are certain people that say that you can rank just for one keyword, or you should focus on generating the keywords for one page so that you're that one page is ranking for case study.
Now, there's other people that say that you should, broaden it more and be able to rank for a case study and marketing on one page, right? So how many keywords can you inject into one page and focus on into one page? Well, that is the question and that is the topic of keyword capitalization. The truth though is that it doesn't really exist right now.
Reason for that is that you can, you know, do some experiments yourself. But you can see pretty easily that there are certain sites and certain, you know, blog posts or pages on websites that rank for multiple keywords up to a thousand or more keywords. For just one page. And that's been proven time and time again.
So I don't think on my end that keyword cannibalization, is something that you should be afraid of. definitely you don't want to just add keywords just for the sake of it. but you definitely don't want to be afraid of. you know, trying to optimize for multiple keywords, right? So for example, let's say, assume that your page ranks for on page one for a hundred keywords and on page two for 200 keywords.
There's a lot of overlap there right now. Would you got to think about is just really greeting great content so that. Your content ranks based on how it's performing, how long users read your content, and how long they stay on your page. So most SEOs, you know, professionals think that, it happens when multiple pages are targeting the same keyword and you really end up competing against each other.
if you have multiple pages, like with the same keywords, some people think that Google rank won't rank any of them, but that is. Just not true. Most search engines really know what the page in general is talking about. You know, we're in the age of artificial intelligence and really big data and big analytics.
Now, whether, you know what halo search terms mean or not, the, the idea is that our technology has gotten so far that, the, the computers, the technology now is really able to understand more of what a page means. More of what it's really trying to do. whether it's trying to really provide value or just trying to rank for the search in the search engines.
Just for the sake of it, you really gotta make sure that what you're saying, is worth its weight in gold. you want to make sure that your site is proven to have great quality content. It's of great value, and that's why sites like Wikipedia, for example, show up on most of the searches that are, informational or how to, Articles, pop up on other famous, you know, hearts how to art, article sites. and that's why, because you want to make sure that your content is good, that your readers are going to get value out of it, and that will help you rank. So. To recap. Don't worry about keyword cannibalization. Focus on making create great content.
If you've got, if rank, if you rank for a, you know, a hundred different keywords in one piece of content, that's totally fine. As long as it makes sense, as long as you're not just trying to gain the system, you are good. To go. another news, Pinterest launches a tool similar to Google's very own Googl
