Sometimes you just can't not. Join Mike Jensen and Vonia Arslanian as they discuss the weeks highs and lows, from entertainment and politics, to parenting in Los Angeles, to everyday life in New York City. Mike and Vonia keep the love alive and the coasts connected by asking questions, laughing, and learning. These longtime creative partners and friends invite you along as they converse, inform, and sometimes mercifully distract.
Mike Jensen is the co-creator and co-host of We Couldn't Help But Wonder - A Journey through Sex and the city.
Vonia Arslanian is the co-creator and co-host of Rom Crime with Averyn and Vonia.
I'm Sorry. What, Grandma?
Vonia and Mike explain why they were unable to record last week, and share what they've been up to. Then it's a new format for Vonia's true crime podcast, a specific podcast episode, and a new Broadway musical. There's talk of frightened children, missing music, and a lot of discussion about grand parents, including the story of when Vonia got her ears pierced. It's a good one.
This Is Not An Episode
Seriously. It's not. Mike and Vonia couldn't record this week, so instead here is a sneak peak at an episode of We Couldn't Help But Wonder: A Journey Through Sex and the City. Truly, it hasn't even been released there. So enjoy this thirty minute discussion about what is known and not known about the upcoming follow-up series, And Just Like That.
Or don't listen and keep the fact that you skipped it to yourself.
But know that this episode contains a Patti LuPone story. Oooooohhhhhh......
It's A Small Club
It all starts with hot sauce. Then Mike gives a Mom update, shares an anxiety inducing work experience, and returns to a Broadway theatre! Vonia attended a recital, Selena Gomez gets a shout out, a returning drama gets a thumbs up, Mike has a LOT of feelings about the Tonys, arts and crafts led to some shenanigans, a sports bra gets an endorsement, and an award show record is set. (And after a second watch, Mike may have been a little too hard on the Tonys...)
It Had It's Drama Moments
Vonia did some dog sitting, and Mike had a distressing conversation with his Mom. Then it's the Emmys, Tiffany Haddish, Only Murders In The Building, a somewhat spoilery look back at Cobra Kai, comfort television, and a passage from Isabel Wilkerson's Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
(We promise, there are some laughs in there...)
Tax The Rich
Vonia went to Disney Land, and Mike had advice for a friend. Also the Met Gala happened. Neither Vonia nor Mike were invited. Then there's a reality competition, a returning comedy, computer and app issues, and quite a lot of talk about astrology. Is your sign totally you?
Vonia had a COVID scare (everyone is fine), and Mike trekked through a severe storm to get sushi (he does not recommend). Then it's TV, a return to theatre, more TV, dealing with anxiety, a warning to not do drugs, movie theatre annoyances, zany travel stories, and long bridges. Plus, Mike half heartedly rejects the term, "tramp stamp." Tattoos are forever, y'all...
