The Russia Ukraine Standoff
The fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 led to a struggle for influence over the newly independent nations. Communist Russia or the Democratic West? Ukraine looked to the west for influence leading to a struggle for control between the two sides.
This conflict continues today in a standoff situated on the Eastern Ukrainian Border. It involves natural resources, corrupt politicians, and rogue rebels. This episode entertains guest Michael Hilliard of The Red Line Podcast.
We go over the tense situation, What has led to this standoff, and Possible moves in the future.
The rest of the world continues to pick sides while Ukraine and Russia remain locked at the border for what seems a bleak standoff. The moves of other foreign nations hint at the complexity of the situation. This conflict stems from century old conflicts and it seems that the tensions won’t die down just yet.
