OTTs and Cinema Theaters in India Gandhinagara Kannada Film Updates

India is the largest producer of films in the world but the box-office numbers in the subcontinent are pathetic. Despite being such a film crazy country India has very less number of movie screens. Huge population of 130+ crores is dependent on ~9500 cinema screens. On an average 1.5 lakh Indians are served by 1 screen, that is ~6.5 screens per million is India's screen density. Despite having a low screens density single screen cinema theaters in India are shutting down in a rapid pace. Advent of multiplexes, lack of maintenance, lack of support from government & taxation are some of the reasons for the slow death of picture palaces in India. Of late, OTTs are rubbing salt into the wound by releasing new films within very few days of theatrical debut. How does this development shape the future of cinema halls in India?
