Episode 79 - The Last Pomcast!

Episode 79 - The Last Pomcast!

Hey Pomcats! It's been a woolly, witty and wonderful nine years with you all, but it's time for us to hang up our headphones and say goodbye!
This last episode of the Pomcast sees Lydia and Sophie reminiscing about their recording adventures and special moments, and it of course has to end with the favourite feature, 'Top Three!' Plus, it wouldn't be a Pomcast without a special guest interview, so the gals interview each other (finally)!
A huge thank you all our wonderful listeners and to the Pom Pom team for all your support!
Although the Pomcast is ending there is lots to enjoy from the world of Pom Pom! To be kept informed with all the latest updates, delightful titbits, and treats, we recommend signing up to our weekly newsletter!

Episode 78 – Short Rows: 'What Lies Beneath' with Naomi Polonsky at Murray Edwards College

Episode 78 – Short Rows: 'What Lies Beneath' with Naomi Polonsky at Murray Edwards College

Hi Pomcats! We hope you’re having a great summer? The Pomcast is currently on a summer break, but we’re bringing you a bonus episode to enjoy! We’re talking to Naomi Polonsky, an assistant curator at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge and learning all about the current exhibition ‘What Lies Beneath; Woman, Politics, Textiles’.
We were lucky enough to have a private tour of the exhibition and have a chat with Naomi afterwards about the art works and creating the show. This episode is the recording of our interview with Naomi where we find out about the exhibition and the Woman’s Art Collection, the largest collection of modern and contemporary art by women!
The exhibition is on until 28th August, but if you can’t make it person, you can take the virtual tour online at womensart.murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk. Thanks so much to Naomi and to Laura Mosely who organised this visit for us!

Episode 77 – Lazy, daisy, hazy, knits of summer!

Episode 77 – Lazy, daisy, hazy, knits of summer!

Hey Pomcats! Those lazy, hazy days of summer are just around the corner, why not take a little break and put your feet up with an episode of Pomcast?
This episode we’re talking about the cultural delights of the Hayward Gallery, as Lydia and Sophie had both recently seen the work of Louise Bourgeois which is on display there. A must for any textile and sculpture lover! Meanwhile Lydia is working on her own artworks for her MA project and hoping she can fit in some sewing plans with the Saguaro co-ord set by Friday Pattern Company.
It’s no surprise that we’re totally jazzed about the newest issue of Pom Pom Quarterly! We talk about some of the patterns we’re hoping to cast on, including the Keswick wrap and Streamers jumper. We’re also looking forward to trying new techniques with the Lateralis socks and Lackadaisical mitts. Speaking of, don’t miss out on our exclusive anniversary merch which features the mitt daisy motif!
Thanks for listening! We’re taking a break from recording  for the summer but will be back in August with the next season of the Pomcast!

    Episode 75 – Socks appeal!

    Episode 75 – Socks appeal!

Hi Pomcats! Welcome back to aural knitting space that is the Pomcast! Wind those skeins and dig out your stitch markers and join us for another chat episode.
We start this episode with a somewhat detailed description of coffees and beverages and then chat Sophie’s adventures in clay and Lydia’s sewing studio set up. Knitwise, Lydia has been continuing to enjoy her adventures in intarsia, while Sophie has made the ever so cosy and warm Skyhill mitts!
It’s been on the horizon for a while, but we are just so excited for Pom Pom Quarterly issue 41! We chat a little bit about what you can expect, and want to remind you to mark your calendars for the previews on 27th April! We’re also giving you some behind the scenes information about our recent sock book shoot! This publication will be similar to Ready Set Raglan, and we were delighted to work with sock aficionado Rachel Coopey on this project.
Do you love stationery? We feel there must be an overlap with those that love knitting and those who delight in luxury pens and drawing tools? Well, for Lydia this certainly is the case and is enjoying her new Caran D'Ache Neocolor crayons. And for Sophie, she is reviling in the glamor, drama and fun that is the latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. And of course, the episode ends with our thoughts on two perhaps lesser known museums, the Shell Museum and the Pencil Museum.

Lotta lives and works in the forest of southern Sweden where her unlikely little yarn shop Elk Market Yarn is located in a small wooden cottage from the early 20th century. Lotta dyes yarn with both foraged local plants and those growing in warmer climates, and her knitwear designs are inspired by her nearest surroundings - the forest, the changing seasons, the lakes, and the starlit night sky. As a Pomcast listener, you now get 10% off your next order at elkmarketyarn.com with the code POMCASTAPRIL. Lotta can’t wait to welcome you to the forest!

Hi Pomcats! This episode we’re having a chat with the fabulous knitwear designer Ainur Berkimbayeva.
We were delighted to get to know Ainur better, after admiring her designs in issues of Pom Pom for a while! You’ll know her patterns Dayspring from Issue 36, the Alatau hat design from Issue 31, and Astragal from Issue 30.
We talk about the many hats she wears as a knitwear designer, spiritual sustainability and social media, and her love of garter stitch. Plus she also drops hints about the construction of her design in our forthcoming Issue 41!
Thanks so much Ainur! You can keep up to date with her designs via Instagram @mamasteddybear and on her website here.
