We are going to discuss the growth of a ‘human child verse animal’s baby’. A human child grows to his full physiology by around the age of 18 years. That when we call him/her adult. Still, he needs to learn a lot many aspects of society that he dwells in. From learning to talk to people to reading books on various topics. From cycling to driving car, cooking, dressing up, etc. He has to learn N number of things to fit in the society that his previous generations have created for him.

Look at the animals on the other hand. A dog’s pup grows physiologically in around 1 to 1.5 years. He doesn’t have to learn driving, cooking, talking differently to different people. He has to learn very basic skills such as eating, sleeping, running etc. I am trying to say we humans have a complex society for which we need to train and teach our kids accordingly. So, isn’t it beautiful that nature has slowed the growing pace of human child to match him according to the learning time needed?

Some might say, this is evolution. But who gives this evolution, the pace it needs? Just to discuss this with an example. In the wild, when a child of Giraffe is born, it drops to the mother Earth. It is immediately kicked by his mother to make him aware of its surroundings. There are a lot many dangers in the wild, ready to get hold of this baby, as they get a turn to hunt it. As soon the Giraffes child comes aware of its surroundings the mother kicks again, to make him stand up! To start walking and run if needed due to any hunter trying to hunt the baby.

What faster pace can we see rather than this! As evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin said, “Survival of the fittest!”. And so, mother Giraffes is doing whatever it can to train the child to get ready for his surroundings. We humans have created a much complex yet safe societies. Here, we are not hunted by other animals or humans. But Darwin’s principles apply here as well. Just that we need to be more educated, more skilled and more polished to survive in this human dominated world. Isn’t it a beauty of the God in giving us the pace we need to fit in properly in our surrounding?

Relationship between Spirituality and Science

How old is our Universe? According to the Big Bang theory, it is 13.7 billion years old. Big Bang theory suggests that, in a flash of a second everything from the singularity, came into existence! And has been into existence since then. This is the most popular theory as per the scientists in this field of study.

First stars were created, then planets leading to initial life forms such as bacteria, blue-green algae, and then came plants. They started the process of the creation of animals ultimately leading to humans. But this was a very long process, not a fast one. It looks like magic but it did happen. Many do not believe in God and hence say its just physics. Everything is just physics.

But I think it a beautiful amalgamation of Science and spirituality. God created all this with his supernatural powers, as we may call it. But also wanted that this should have an explanation as if some species such as humans come in the picture. Which he knew ultimately will, they should be able to understand the whole universe in some systematic way. So, he created science. Which we humans were meant to discover someday and can work on it. Experiment in it and create something on his own.

In this series called ‘Relationship between Spirituality and Science’, I would like to explore all the aspects of science and spirituality and would like to enhance the understanding of our surroundings. Let me say it, although we know it, God is there!! Some might like to deny it, as they say, we cannot prove it. But don’t you see his beautiful creation around us, which is shouting of its existence. Yes, life created from nothing but gas and dust. That’s what started the Universe, right!! But now we have numerous living beings around us. Thank God!!
