How does it feel to know that this is an opportunity to make it into the history books? Specifically, how does it feel to be part of a movement that makes sure we don’t repeat our past? What does it mean to be Black or a POC in modern America, when it feels our destinies are still pre-determined? We’ve got the numbers for you, but now it’s time you hear how it feels. George Floyd Riots and Survivors

    George Floyd Riots and Survivors

CONTENT WARNING: Lela and I will be talking about The George Floyd Riots and surviving sexual assault.

Lela brings me back to the time of riots, where she was when they started all the way till the end of them. I hear about what was happening every day within the chaos, and Lela gives me a story of an encounter with a woman she'd met for only one day. Lela and I also talk about sexual assault and coming out over the internet, what it means to be a survivor, what you can do as a supporter, and what to remember about the powerful women in the black community. This extra long episode has no sponsors or music, as both the riots and the topic of sexual assault is important and not something to capitalize off of or sensationalize. The media has done that enough. Please take some extra time out of your day to appreciate the courage this woman has, and hopefully she can, as she has with me, instill some more power and motivation within you.

    Education and Unlearning

    Education and Unlearning

Orion Simione, a member of RR, joins me on the topic of unlearning.

Melissa, his mother and teacher up until high school, also joins us for some inter-generational viewpoints on how to be Anti-Racist. What are some things we've had to unlearn, what about the education system has failed us? How have we begun to pick out our own misunderstandings and re-learn some truths, and how can we make sure we know that listening is the largest part of this Movement?

    Enjoy!

    Our Black Experience

    Our Black Experience

Welcome back to another RR episode!

Inayah and I talk about what our experience was like growing up Black, and we delve into representation in the government and media. We talk about the ineffectiveness of 'Trauma Porn' and lots more. I will apologize beforehand for some of the audio quality, but I also think that this keeps us relatable!

    Enjoy!

    Being an Ally

    Being an Ally

Ava and Esther Levy join me for the first installment of RR: The Movement. We talk about what it means to be an ally, and how we talk to people our age compared to our parents - who have a different outlook on the world.  We get into a lot of different subjects that circle back to knowing that "Being Black is not a choice, being racist is"- and how there are many ways to actively be Anti-Racist.

    Enjoy!
