S4E1: You've Got Two Buckets The Creative Revolution Podcast

    • Näringsliv

Imagine two buckets.

On each there is a label that reads:

🪣 - Bucket #1: Things you CAN change

🪣 - Bucket #2: Things you CAN’T change

You can only choose to carry one around with you at any given moment.

Some things that always are within reach for you within bucket #1:

Your response to the things that happen
The story you tell yourself about what is happening or has happened
What you choose to make / build / think about/ do
Your next decision

Some things that always out of your reach, deep in the endless bottom of bucket #2:

What other people think of you or your ideas
What other people make / build / think about/do
What the weather does
What your favorite (or least favorite) sports team/politician/religious leader/business does
The events of the past
Basically everything else

When you’re focused on the things in Bucket #1 🪣, you will feel empowered, centered, (mostly) at peace, and in a state of flow and presence.

When you’re focused on the things in Bucket #2🪣, you will feel powerless, scattered, afraid, frustrated, disappointed, angry, and in a state of chaos, anxiety, and distraction.

Accepting (and yes, perhaps even embracing) the things you can’t change — and then acting accordingly — isn’t a sign of weakness.

It’s the only thing that will actually leave you feeling empowered out of that hole 🕳 you’ve found yourself stuck in.

The first step to getting out of a hole is to stop pretending you’re not in one in the first place.

The question then becomes: what are you going to do about it?

You’ve got two buckets in that hole with you.

Only one of them will help you get out of it.
