Guests: Akshi Mohla Scheffert, Bill Bowers, Steven Spears, Timo Deiner, Victor Hoeck

This is a very special episode for me because it is my farewell. I decided to take another step in my personal development, but I remain within the SAP ecosystem because ASUG CEO Geoff Scott was absolutely right, when he told me, learning from my decision to change that the SAP ecosystem is a bit like Eagles Hotel California that stated you can check out anytime, but you can never leave.

So I will join a very renowned SAP partner for whom I will be responsible for its global Intelligent ERP, value and innovation consulting business, so in short I will continue helping SAP customers on their journey to become an intelligent enterprise from now on even more directly than ever by putting into practice those principles we have covered on this show.
This of course has consequences for the SAP Experts Podcast, and I was immediately asked what going to happen with it the good news is that it will continue under a slightly different setup and I am happy to announce that it will move to the area of SAP in which its further growth and development will find the best possible environment. It will live on in the area of Uwe Grigoleit who is well known to listeners since he has already been a guest twice and it will be taken over by a carefully handpicked all-star team of hosts. Why the all-star team? Because we want to guarantee you a broad bandwidth of different topics that matter for your job and are hosted by people that are highly competent in those topics. So we are going to put it non more shoulders. And I am highly excited that each of them has agreed to become part of the SAP Experts Podcast.
So let me introduce them to you on this episode before I hand over the microphone, it is
Bill Bowers , Akshi Mola, Steven Spears, Timo Deiner and Victor Hoeck who will bring you fantastic content on any episodes to come.

So please welcome this team with me and continue supporting them as you did support me and I would be happy to remain in contact with you so connect with me on my linkedin page, my name is Alexander Greb, and I want to thank you dear listeners believing in this format that put authenticity and expertise always on top, for making this podcast what it became which is SAPs number one podcast and source for thought leadership content and conversations.
I would never have thought that it would become THAT successful so thank you very much for all your support. Also, I want to say special thanks to Axel Vetter, Claudia Weller, Maximilian Gramberg, Thomas Wagner, Richard Strattner, Melanie Machold and Yulia Molokova who have supported me for having made all of this happen.
But for now let’s look forward, and welcome the next generation of hosts, on this episode of the SAP Experts Podcast

SAP Experts Podcast Episode 59: A Masterclass in Sales (Part 1 of 2)

SAP Experts Podcast Episode 59: A Masterclass in Sales (Part 1 of 2)

Guests: Eric Shaver – Managing Partner, Kensei Partners LLC
Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP

Today we have something very special for you, because this week and next week, we focus one hundred percent on a practice / a profession, that is playing a huge role in our industry because it’s the one that in a certain way feeds us and is central for the financial success of our enterprise. We are going to talk about sales and how it is done right in the 21 century.

I have the very special privilege to welcome Mr Eric Shaver, Managing Partner of Kensei Partners a prominent sales consultancy firm, who has been a very successful Account Executive himself all of his career and today is advising sales professionals on how to excel at their jobs.

that being said this is what we are going to do in this “Masterclass in Sales”. And since neither Eric’s competence nor his great personality can be squeezed in on Episode only, we did a two-part podcast out of this, so you will get the first part today, and the second part next week, overall three hours of premium content that will help you to become a master seller yourself.

And especially in 2021 it is of utter importance that you reflect heavily on how you do your job. Because as Eric says in past years dumb money forgave bad behaviorisms and bad routines, but dump money has gone away – money has shifted, so have power and control structures. There are different criteria now so the bad news is: your legacy relationships don’t matter anymore. The rush to the cloud does the rest to disrupt your profession. The consequences are severe:

When IT Spends were CAPEX you sold to the IT, since cloud this spend is now OPEX so business departments decide on what happens.

On this first part we talked among many other things about how to approach and sell to business, on what you should build your relationship on and that trusted advisors don’t sell software nor cloud subscriptions

You learn what is the great corrupter of your pipeline, the right way to talk about money, how you qualify properly, the sins of sales and why sales should NOT be the extension of marketing,

Also, why discounts are false friends and kill your success in the long run and how you should correctly handle funding, where and when. And this is just the beginning.

So if you are working in sales or sales supporting roles, buckle up cause this double episode is quite a ride. This is going to be as candid as it can be, here at the SAP Experts Podcast
