"Uber May Be God's Portland Side-Hustle"

Had to postpone the interview I'd planned because life happened and I came to Portland. This podcast is simply me, sharing a few late-night insights as I walk through some universal hard stuff...and how a few local Uber guys have made me a grateful recipient of their own unique, genuine social action. I'll get back to the "interviewing awesome people" format soon -- for now, I hope just telling you about a few will suffice. And that they touch your heart the way they did mine.

A conversation with Nikki Martin, who is a living example of being willing to do the inner work required to inhabit one's skin in a more authentic way, and how her desire to dig in led to a yoga practice that informs every aspect of her personal and professional life, and the lives of those (like me!) fortunate enough to cross her path.

Self Care As Social Action: Introduction

Self Care As Social Action: Introduction

I try to surround myself with people smarter, kinder, and more "yes!" than me; people who see all the possibilities of being of service and don't get bogged down in bureaucracy or the cynicism of politics or warring spiritual paths. I realized that I happen to actually know a lot of those kinds of people and that others might find them just as inspiring, so this podcast is going to introduce you to them and share what they do -- people who take social action as an extension of their personal values and in it, find that something transformative and healing occurs. My delivery clearly needs work, and there are some awkward gaps when I accidentally hit myself in the face, dropped my phone and got a tad lost — but I’m posting this in spite of all that, to keep moving forward, because this idea is from my heart to y’alls, and it’s a beginning, an attempt to explain the inspiration and concept — but the cool folks are coming in the ones to follow, so I hope you’ll stick around!
