If you were asked, should Christians follow the Ten Commandments, how would you answer? In Exodus 20, God is descending on Mt. Sinai to give Moses His Law for the nation of Israel. There are many valuable lessons to learn from the Ten Commandments but should Christians today follow them? What role do the Ten Commandments play today in the Christian life? In Exodus chapter 19, we look at the Israelites as they approach Mount Sinai. God desired them to be a holy nation. He wanted them to listen. Did the people listen to God through Moses? There are parallels between the Israelites in Exodus 19 and Christians today.

Israel had all the signs that should have shown them that God was with them. Instead, we find Israel in Exodus 17 asking "Is God among us or not." It's OK to be thirsty, it's OK to ask for water, it is not Ok to test God in our forgetfulness and refusal to listen. As Christians, we also have evidence enough that shows us that God is present. May we be encouraged to remember what God has already done for us and be willing to LISTEN to Him.
