Signs Your Dog Is Stressed or Frightened The Dog Savvy Kids Podcast with Katie

    • Djur

Many people are under the assumption that only "bad" dogs bite. They believe tolerant, good dogs will never lose their cool. In reality, good dogs can be pushed to a point that they become angry. When dogs are angry they can growl, bark, jump, scratch and bite.

Dogs are no different than humans. Good humans lose their cool and so can good dogs. A good dog owner works hard to prevent their dog from getting to the point of snapping. We can do that by monitoring our dog's emotions throughout the day and when interacting with others. This podcast is taking a turn from regular dog situations to focusing more on behavior and safety.

This topic change follows the business motto of my new company Dog Savvy Kids. Dog Savvy Kids teaches adults and children how to read dogs. We want everyone to know when it is safe to interact with a dog and when the dog is feeling stressed, thereby needing some space. Dogs are great creatures that provide us happiness and health benefits. We want to ensure we are equally great to live with by understanding their needs.

In today's episode we learn some signs dogs provide when they are feeling stressed, scared and frustrated. Let's learn about our dogs and pay attention to their mood. In doing so we will: CNTL (the environment for our dog) + ALTer (our behavior around dogs) + DEL (unnecessary dog bites). We will also learn WHEN TO PLAY and WHEN TO STAY AWAY.
