An hour discussion regarding education with a primary focus on sexual education.

An hour discussion regarding education with a primary focus on sexual education.

As stated in the title, in this episode I touch on the absolute need for sexual education courses for black men and black women at early ages. I also touch on a few causes as far as absorbed patriarchal ideals & misogynistic values that are picked up at early ages regarding black men. It is my subjective perspective that if we embrace this ideology collectively we will be able to dismantle and eradicate rape culture in its totality. We need to teach our children about: sex as far as interactions and or engagements, the autonomy, laws of sex, what is sexual violence i.e rape, coercion, consent, age of consent, identity, stealthing etc. We can begin to shift the nature of sex we can end the taboos regarding communication surrounding sex. If the collective of black boys were educated about sex would they grow into those who perpetuate violence onto black women and those that mirror them? I feel personally you would see more black men taking a stance of protection because they now know and are aware of harm that can happen if left uneducated. Compassion and empathy are concepts/ emotions that are lacking in our communities and the need for accountability, reflection, comprehension, as well as listening to interpret are at an all time high. Education coupled with a variety of other ideals will aid us collectively in our liberation. We can not have liberation at the expense of subjugating our women. Educate yourself or you are doomed to destroy yourself. It will require much work but I am here willing and ready. This platform is for you. - Brother Uhuru

    Discussion with @jacky_speaks.

In this episode of Somewhere Between The Sun & The Moon I begin the process of having guest onto the podcast. This has been an objective of mine since curating this platform. To create a space where all black people can express themselves fully, void of combativeness, void of judgements. Unapologetic blackness. I will continue doing this as this platform grows and I invite all who are interested and ready to share ideas and perspectives to contact me as soon as possible. Today we have Jakobina aka jack_speaks ( on twitter ). a poet, painter, and activist. This is part one of our discussion we seemed to have went over our limit and our discussion was cut short but don’t worry the next episode will be a continuation of this conversation. But until then I give thanks to you all that have supported this platform. Many more discussions are on there way to you very soon. - Brother Uhuru

    TO BE PRESENT

    TO BE PRESENT

In this episode I touch on being present in spaces for black women. As well as black people in general. I wanted to focus my attention on what many black women I know personally have spoke about as well as what I see currently throughout social media. I wanted to focus on black men today and let them know why it’s so important to unlearn detrimental behaviors and relearn conducive behaviors. Black women are not social sponges. It is our duty to let the black woman know that she is seen, she is protected, and loved. Fallacies have been embedded into our psyches at such young ages and most of us do not discard them due to them being deemed normalities. I’m here to tell you that they are. We have to check ourselves collectively. We have to take a stance. We have to be willing to put our lives for the black woman as she has done for us for centuries. Disregard fear if that is a notion you move with that is hindering you from following through on this duty. The time for action is now. I love you, though as I had to break down myself to become a better man for myself and those that mirror me. I’m calling on all black men to do the same. Let us become powerhouses once again. Let us defend black women unapologetically. The time is now. - Brother Uhuru
