Supplementation: A misconceived taboo in the Indian Market!‪!‬ Sportscientist

    • Sport

Yes, Yes, I know not many are a fan of it! But I also know, quite a few are die hards of these for bodybuilding and some heavily sponsored sports. But the science of supplementation and its necessity are hardly understood!!

Controversy is a Möbius strip in the field of research and so is the settlement on deciding the best time for having the appropriate supplementations in a workout schedule. Few fitness aficionados love having protein after workout and a few the opposite. But I have also heard many of them complain that having carbohydrate supplementation before training gives them a bloating feel initially but later the body gets accustomed to it. Few have also said, it makes it completely impossible to consume carbohydrate drinks prior to workout on cardio days. And the other part of the crowd prefers protein shakes to carbohydrate ones. So much of terms, so much of recommendations, so much of references and thus so much of confusions. Listen up to this podcast and  understand the science and mechanism of action of the supplements so that we can script our own schedules.

The concept of supplementation does not jus revolve around mere proteins and carbohydrates. As there are various types of supplementation. Each of them is a huge concept and involves a lot of understanding. My old-man says:

" Too much of information in a short period of time is only a waste of time. Give your audience the time to process it and the curiosity to access it!"

So I have planned to explain each of the below listed aspects very briefly in a separate blog. All you gotta do is click on your favourites from the list. (Well, you might have to wait a bit for it. Keep your curiosities higher!)

In a nut shell, I want to emphasis that the dietary aspects of training must be left to a dietician or sports nutritionist. They have been qualified to do that part of the system. Coaches and trainers must not recommend the dietary regards based on their experience, expectations and perceptions. It takes more than that to understand the functioning system of the body.
