The Tennis and Bagels Podcast aims to capture the best parts of tennis, from tactics to touching moments and many things in between. Andre Rolemberg started the show in 2019 and added Vansh Vermani — a dynamo in all things tennis statistic related — and Owen Lewis, a blogger, to the team. As the legendary Big Three head into the twilight of their careers and the WTA approaches a gleaming Golden Age with its plethora of young talent, change is afoot in the tennis world. Andre, Vansh, and Owen do their best to make sense of it through match recaps, often bad predictions, and general wondering.

Owen chats with Juan José Vallejo—Djokovic-Nadal Australian Open 2012 final 10-year anniversary

Juan José returns to the podcast to relive one of the most pivotal, mind-blowing matches in history: the Novak Djokovic-Rafael Nadal 2012 Australian Open final. Owen and Juan José talked about the tennis atmosphere at the time, the match itself — why it wasn’t a true epic, micro analysis of tactics, The Miss and more — as well as…Pascal Maria.
We realize that tensions surrounding Djokovic are high at the moment, so we completely understand if you don’t want to hear about him during the AO. We only mention him in a tennis context, but we’ll also be sure to re-share this episode after the tournament is over. Hope you enjoy!

Finally the Australian Open! The team previews the WTA draw

Finally the Australian Open! The team previews the WTA draw

Barty-Osaka could happen before we expected. Raducanu gets the worst possible draw, taking on Stephens - might be the best match of the first round. Fernandez could well be on her way to another Grand Slam semi-final. Swiatek could make it there too. And who can stop Kontaveit? This names list is way too long for the description, so go ahead and listen to us chatting about the draw and picking our faviourites to make it far into the Australian Open and possibly winning the tournament!

Tennis at last: Canada wins the ATP Cup, Nadal wins in Australia, Barty is a goddess.

Tennis at last: Canada wins the ATP Cup, Nadal wins in Australia, Barty is a goddess.

Despite the Novak Djokovic kerfuffle Down Under, there was actually some good tennis to enjoy and get excited about. Andre,Vansh, and Owen get together to talk about how Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov have progressed and that it showed during the ATP Cup, a tournament that seems to not mean a lot, but it also looks like it does. They also chat about how Rafael Nadal's title is great, but does not give much indication in terms of how his Australian Open Campaign will turn out, and also about how Ash Barty, the World No. 1, is still by a large margin the best player in the world -- and we didn't even talk about points. Will she win her home Slam this year? Will we get the Barty-Osaka match we all deserve?
