You know how when someone asks "How are you?" you just say "Fine,” even if you’re totally dying inside, so everyone can go about their day? “Terrible, Thanks For Asking” is the opposite of that. Nora McInerny asks real people to share their complicated and honest feelings about how they really are. It’s sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and often both. From American Public Media.

We recently made an episode called “The Grudge Book” filled with your grudges, and the feedback was SO strong. People felt validated. They laughed. They connected. So Nora got to thinking … did we need an episode that also gave you a place to share the other things that are hard to say? Your regrets? Your almosts? We decided the answer was yes, and this episode is loaded with them. Can’t get enough TTFA? Sign up for TTFA Premium for $7.99 a month. We’re Supposed to Be Four

It’s the stuff of romantic comedies: Man meets woman as they’re boarding a flight. The two quickly discover they share many similarities and go on to chat for hours. There’s an instant connection.

The big difference here is the woman is Nora, and the man is a TTFA listener. And what she and Jose spend hours talking about, what they instantly connect on ... is their grief. Because like Nora, Jose recently lost the love of his life. Can’t get enough TTFA? Sign up for TTFA Premium for $7.99 a month. October 8, 1988

Suffering can feel like such a singular experience -- like there’s no one else in the world who understands what we’re going through. But sometimes, if we look hard enough, we find that our singular experience intersects with another. This is the story of two young girls whose stories intertwined during a tragic accident on October 8, 1988 … though they wouldn’t meet for decades to come. Can’t get enough TTFA? Well-bred badass ,

This podcast really matters

Nora is a connector. She makes us feel less alone in our various forms of misery, by telling our stories with insight and compassion. Despite the often heart-breaking content, she’s also very funny and has a unique voice and delivery. The podcast is beautifully produced and every thought-provoking episode brings greater understanding of what it means to be human.

Cry-laughing

This podcast almost every episode make me both cry and laugh, often at the same time. I love it and a lot of the episodes stick with you for quite a while, the raw and real emotions that both the host and those who are interviewed has makes you feel part of the conversation. I recommend it to everyone <3
