Over the past decades, Christians have developed various approaches to counselling. Some call their method biblical counselling, others Christian counselling, and others will use use language like Christian psychology. How can we understand these various approaches to counselling? In this panel, Paul Carter, RD Glenn, Rob Godard, Michael Krahn, and Wyatt Graham discuss how Christian leaders and pastors can think about counselling in church ministry. It can sometimes be a conversation that has more heat than light. But we hope we can help you think through this occasionally controversial topic to help you shepherd the flock God has shared with you as under-shepherds.

If you are a pastor, you probably have already fielded questions about the war between Israel and Hamas. Few of us our political experts. Yet Israel has a special place in our theological outlook of the world. And many Christians are asking questions about this conflict.  How can we as pastors and Christian leaders talk about the war in wise and godly ways? How can we answer the inevitable questions that we will be asked? In this panel, Wyatt Graham, Paul Carter, RD Glenn, and Rob Godard seek to share their collective wisdom on how to pastorally speak about the war between Israel and Hamas without giving up the centrality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  This might be a controversial episode. But we think it's a topic that we cannot ignore given how important the pastoral issues are. 

We’ve all been hearing about increasing rates of burnout amongst pastors, we’ve been hearing about high rates of anxiety and depression, and we’ve also been hearing about this “Great Resignation” – the data seems to indicate that it was and is worse in the States than hear, but it does seem to be happening here at some significant level, and then we’ve also been hearing that fewer and fewer younger people are willing to go into ministry – partly because of the stresses, but also, largely because the pay scale hasn’t kept pace with the increased cost of living in this country. So, long story short, we have a problem. In this podcast, Rob Goddard, Wyatt Graham, Paul Graham, Paul Carter, and Michael Krahn seek to uncover that problem and discuss potential solutions.

As a new initiative, The Gospel Coalition Canada will release a monthly podcast by Canadian pastors to resource the Canadian church. This Canadian Pastors' Forum will host discussions that to Canadian Christians. In this first episode, pastors Dwayne Cline, Paul Graham, Josh Brake, Chris Synesael, Rob Goddard, Paul Carter, and Stephen Bray come together to discuss how COVID-19 changed the church and reshaped the ministry context in Canada. They reflect on what we’ve learned, what we’ve lost, and how we’ve grown.

All of us long for love. We long to be accepted. We long to belong. We also long to love. We express love in a variety of ways; sometimes through physical touch; sometimes through words of affirmation. This time of year we often show love by giving gifts. God lovingly offers kindness to everyone. The rain falls and the sun shines on our neighbours yard as well as ours. He grants everyone joy and pleasure. Jesus demonstrated His love through service and sacrifice. His love for us is shown supremely on the cross offering a forgiving and redemptive love for those who believe. His love justifies His children, granting them His presence now and forever. This is advent love.
