IFS and Self Led Civility and a lot of Funk with David Medeiros
On today's episode I chat with David Mederios, Level Two trained IFS therapist. David has been a program assistant for multiple level one and level two trainings. He has presented at several annual IFS conferences. He spent a year working with Dr. Richard Schwartz and co-presented their experience treating someone diagnosed with Schizophrenia at an annual IFS Conference. David collaborated on the production of Good Grief, which toured nationally.
David and I have a lot of a laughs throughout this '101' episode.

How we met and importance of Dance Parties
His presentation and experience with his patient with Schizophrenia
Drumming Lessons: asking for help and life lessons
His book. Civility and Responsibility. Working with Families struggling in Domestic Violence
His goal in writing his book- especially in light of the 2020 election, Capital Riots, and Covid.
The Foundation for Self Leadership Web series- He is co-leading the first one. STARTS 9/3/21
I tell a little bit about my upcoming book, "The One Inside: 30 Days to Your Authentic Self."

IFS and No Bad Parts with Richard Schwartz
Here we are! - Together for the 100th episode with Dick Schwartz.
Dick has always been supportive and kind to me- from meeting him when I came out of a consultation group and he was standing in a hallway alone, to an unfortunate situation at a conference. He has been open and available for this podcast, and I am so grateful.
Dick has a new book out this week called "No Bad Parts," which we planned to talk about. And we do- a little bit.
What happened during our chat was we just started catching up. Then this transitioned to us both sharing some things 'off the record.'
And, of course, Dick does not want to just TALK about the model- he wants to do it. So he says to me, "We can do a little piece of work if you want ..." How could I not agree!?
So, that is what a big piece of this episode is- a demo of the model. You get to hear Dick doing the model and you get to hear me working with my parts.
My hope for you is that you are able to go down your own trailheads as you listen. My hope for you is you learn something about this model. My hope for you is you get to witness the founder of IFS facilitate a session.
Here is a bit of an outline:
- Checking in
- Dick's 'obsessed with IFS' part
- Demonstration of the Model (from about 15 minutes until about 40 minutes)
- The book- No Bad Parts
- Bigger Plans for IFS

IFS and Authenticity with Frank Anderson
On today's episode I chat with Frank Anderson. His new book, "Transcending Trauma" has been out for a month or so now, and he has done a few podcasts. I wanted to talk to him about how he is doing and what is going on in his life.
So! This is not just about trauma or his book. This is not about what is happening in the IFS world since Frank is an insider. This is not about Frank's workshops and IFS manuals and all those things.
This episode - the 99th episode- is about authenticity.
We talk about the book, of course. And, we talk about trauma. Mostly, we talk about family, love, and connection and their power to heal all of us.
Frank says, "Love Heals What Trauma Blocks."

IFS and Psychedelics with Norma Stevens
On today's episode I chat with Norma Stevens who is an LCPC in private practice in the Baltimore/DC area. She is a Research
Therapist for a Clinical Trial for Psilocybin Assisted Therapy for Depression in Cancer Patients and a Therapist for the MAPS Expanded Access Program for MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD at the William Richards Healing Center in the Aquilino Cancer Center in Rockville, MD.
She is a Certified IFS therapist and an Approved IFS Supervisor for Certification. She has worked as a program assistant extensively for Level 1, 2, and 3 IFS trainings and was a presenter at the 2019 IFS Annual Conference.
We talk about:
- Processes and essential steps of this treatment
- What brought her into psychedelic assisted therapy (such a great story!) and her current work at the Healing Center
- Healing potential of psychedelic therapy and what is needed to administer it safely (all the S's- screening, set, setting, skill, and support)
- IFS and Psychedelics: A powerful combination (self healing exiles)
- Concerns: What about addiction? Don’t psychedelics bypass protectors (and how they do)? What if someone has a history of psychosis? What about “bad” trips?
- Importance of Integration and follow up
Norma calls this Sacred Work, and I loved hearing her story and her passion.

I was thrilled when I found out about Gabby and heard her speak in such a clear, understandable way about IFS. I had to have her on the podcast and am so thankful that she was open to do it. And, that she turned out to be such a warm, kind, and lovely person.
It is amazing when we find people talking our same language outside of the IFS community and that is what I thought about Gabby.
I highly recommend you check out her website which is full of free resources. On this episode I mention her TED talk and her Super Soul Session which can be found on YouTube.
Check out her Dear Gabby Podcast- it is so good.
We spoke about a meditation that I did for her miracle membership- you can join this group on Facebook and through her website.
