After being diagnosed with Adenomyosis in 2020, Carla faced the daunting reality of infertility. But after making a pivotal medical discovery, her journey took a miraculous turn when she saw the possibility of conceiving through surrogacy, challenging her beliefs and reawakening her dreams of motherhood.

When I was first considering solo parenthood, I scoured the internet for any resources and stories I could find about other women taking the SMBC route. Back in 2018 there weren't nearly as many people talking about this choice as there are today, but I know many of you are hungry for all the stories you can get about other women out there taking the plunge into solo parenthood by choice. Today’s guest is Meredith Kate, an aspiring southern California single mama by choice and the host of The Backup Plan Podcast. From making decisions about egg and embryo freezing to deciding on spacing between children to weighing the pros and cons of being “one and done”...there’s a lot to think about!

What drives their desire to add more, or conversely, what factors help them decide their family is complete as it is?
