Lad Behind the Lens: Talking Photography Legacy with Jake Feinberg Full Edit

Lad Behind the Lens: Talking Photography Legacy with Jake Feinberg Full Edit

On Jan. 20, 2022, I got to rap about my creative journey with my newfound brethren. Jake Feinberg is a music journalist with an inexhaustible muse: what bonds the soul with tunes and who are the cats, as he’s dubbed them, that keep the fire blazing.

We share a day job now and bonded immediately over the elements that grow iconoclasts and outliers. I’m not a musician, but my poetic output places me akin to the, “dreamers of the dreams.”

This is the full rap session. Lots of topics and journeys and insights. More importantly, lots of love. Let’s get it!

Until next time, I’ll see you in the streets.

Check out the Jake Feinberg Show here.

Nature Photos in Tucson Snow & Don't Sleep on iPhone 14 Pro

Nature Photos in Tucson Snow & Don't Sleep on iPhone 14 Pro

Snow in Tucson; and in March?! Dude, no way. But here we are. March 1, 2023 marked a wild and rare day of snow, which started around 10 p.m. MST. I knew it was a golden opportunity to make photos with blessed weather like this. And it was the perfect time to test out the iPhone 14 Pro. When you use the RAW camera option, your images will be rendered on a 48 MP sensor. That almost twice the size of the Sony A7 III sensor.  So let's explore the medium format options with a camera that fits in your back pocket.  Until next time, I'll see you in the streets.  Full review of the 14 Pro coming soon. Follow for more!

1 Creative Photography Rule That Changed My Life!

1 Creative Photography Rule That Changed My Life!

What’s the difference between a success photographer and someone who misses the mark? I’d say the photography game, like any pursuit, is about suiting up. Show up for your art. That’s more than 90 percent of the resistance battle. Executing and making mistakes then taking your error lessons to the next project in order to secure a bigger win.  Isn’t funny how a sleepy early morning error can remind us what’s most important as a creative.  Make sure to let me know your cornerstone to your success and happiness.

Speed Beats Perfectionism in Photography — Here's Why

Speed Beats Perfectionism in Photography — Here's Why

How many award-winning photos can you produce in half a day, every hour on the nose? Well, on Saturday, March 4 you’ll get to see what I can pull off.

The Vancouver Street Photography Collective is hosting a community photog event — I can't wait. The Van-SPC outing is modeled around The 24 Hour Project, an annual affair where global photographers document their current locale to raise awareness for social and economic justice. My Vancouver peeps flipped the rules a bit, allowing shutterbugs to choose a 12-hour window to produce on the day of March 4th. This event requires a $5 donation registration and all proceeds earned from the occasion will fund the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre, a non-profit organization that provides meals, counseling and advocacy to nurture and empower members. In anticipation of this phenomenal time on the streets it’s time to talk about speed. How fast can you make a body of work; what editing techniques and micro-content strategies are you using to increase production; are you investigating how to best use artificial intelligence to increase output and manage your time more efficiently?

Here's a link to register for the Van-SPC event.

3 Tips for Photographers Experiencing Impostor Syndrome

3 Tips for Photographers Experiencing Impostor Syndrome

'If this photo habit of mine is not bringing in money, can I rationalize spending dozens of hours every week in search of the best frame my current city can offer?' This is a sample of my inner monologue, when I’m experiencing, 'resistance' defined as, 'any act that rejects immediate gratification in favor of long-term growth, health, or integrity. Or, expressed another way, any act that derives from our higher nature instead of our lower.' Steve Pressfield’s book ‘The War of Art’ brought the clearest definition of a phenomena all creative people feel and have to negotiate at some point in their careers.

And last week, the resistance I experienced, and thankfully conquered due to the support of my loving partner, was overpowering. Thus, it felt like an appropriate time to talk over impostor syndrome, highlighting three tips I have to escape the storm with grace.

Workflow & Philosophy, Let’s Talk Street Photography

Workflow & Philosophy, Let’s Talk Street Photography

In October, I got a chance to sit down with Shout Out Arizona, an online magazine that features entrepreneurs working in the Grand Canyon State. Not only did I get to rap about my creative journey, I also shared some of my professional philosophy. So let’s get to it!

Sadly, the GoFundMe link to help support Taqueria Pico De Gallo is no longer available. But please visit this Old Pueblo mainstay when you come visit us.

If you're interested in supporting my creative work, bookmark and cop something on my website.

Until next time, I'll see you in the streets.
