This Woman’s Work is driven by 2 fundamental goals:

To celebrate women and all they are capable of.To provide a unique career and lifestyle support service for anyone that needs it.
This Woman’s Work celebrates women in work; and in doing so, aims to provide a helpful, practical and (hopefully) inspirational career and life support service for anyone that needs it.
At its core is an interview based podcast, that sees us chat to AMAZING women about their jobs. We’ll hear about their unique career and life paths and as we do, get real-world advice about the role and the success criteria for it. The hope being that whether someone is unsure about a next career move, and/or returning to work after a break (i.e. mums trying to return to work); or even if someone is simply walking a dog or exercising, and would enjoy hearing about some amazing women, then TWW has them covered.
The chats will cover a broad spectrum of jobs, over a spectrum of levels, to offer as many options, for as many people as possible; however, ideally the roles will have an interesting twist, sometimes even a bizarre twist, to inspire and ignite interest that might otherwise have gone unknown or ignored.
But perhaps most importantly, we're going to build, with your help, one heck of a community support network, so that you can all help and support - and celebrate - each other.
Thanks for your support.

Chat number 47: Charlie: A highly experienced Midwife and multi-department head

Chat number 47: Charlie: A highly experienced Midwife and multi-department head

Charlie is a MASSIVELY solutions-focussed Midwife and (multi) Department Head, and does the job - and has progressed to the level she has - primarily to help the many, not just the few.
What NHS staff, like Charlie, accomplish day-in-day-out is phenomenal, given the tremendous lack of funding and support, and alongside ever growing patient needs and yes, patient expectations.
... And they don't do it for the money... Nobody would do a job like this for the money... They do it for the calling inside them, that asks them to help other humans. To heal and protect others.
    Please meet Charlie.

Chat number 46: Anna: A neurodivergent, non-binary Tarot Reader, Artist and... Witch!

Chat number 46: Anna: A neurodivergent, non-binary Tarot Reader, Artist and... Witch!

A gorgeous person, a gorgeous soul, a neurodivergent brain, a non-binary gender statement, and just an amazing (and occasionally, tragic) story knitting all of that together; Anna's story is one of MANY paths and turns and MANY ups and downs.
The non-binary 'part' of Anna is something we're especially pleased and proud to have chatted through, because even though TWW is, of course, called 'This Woman's Work' (for now!), the ethos of it, as we hope is clear by now, is actually about promoting equality, inclusion and support; and none of those things are gender specific.
    Please meet Anna.

Chat number 45: Liz: TWW's 'resident', highly experienced florist, and a fab small business owner

Chat number 45: Liz: TWW's 'resident', highly experienced florist, and a fab small business owner

Liz LOVES her job, so even though her sisters keep asking her when she's going to retire, her answer remains the same: 'I love my job!'. Floristry is Liz's hobby/passion and she's created a fab business doing something that she loves and something that she's really proud of.
Now that doesn't mean she wouldn't like to step back a bit and do some travelling, but retire... Never!
The noise you can hear in the background is the hustle and bustle of the shop, including some chatter from one of the staff doing a wedding consultation... And yes, most podcasts don't allow such background noise.
    ... But we're not most podcasts ;-)
    Please meet Liz.

Break Room 3: Stella & Chops: What is 'modern' working life like for Millennials and Gen Z right now?

Break Room 3: Stella & Chops: What is 'modern' working life like for Millennials and Gen Z right now?

In this chat, Stella and Chops pick-up from Break Room 2 (with Nicky) and discuss what gender and gender equality means for Stella's generation. They also chat through what it's like as a working millennial / Gen Z right now, and how that generation view the workplace Vs their 'modern' needs.
The need for Stella's generation to enjoy their work, and indeed 'thrive' at work is clearly there - WAY more than it was for older generations at that age (who just sucked-it-up for the sake of their CV) - and yet, the modern workplace doesn't appear to have changed all that much to accommodate this need.
Stella has experienced, and has friends who are still experiencing sexism and misogyny at work, and who are pretty blimin' unhappy about it. BUT, they still don't feel they can speak up about it, let alone leave that employment, because of how that will might reflect on them and their CV.
    Welcome to Break Room 3.

Chat number 44: Gemma: A highly experienced Solicitor and bad-ass specialist IP/Trademark Attorney

Chat number 44: Gemma: A highly experienced Solicitor and bad-ass specialist IP/Trademark Attorney

Gemma's story, like many of the women we pod, is both that of an underdog and that of a non-linear fashion... Because Gemma wasn't necessarily hugely academic, and because she didn't intend to become a solicitor.
She certainly didn't intent to become an IP/Trademark one.
And yet she is now both; and she's amazing at both. So much so that she now runs her own small IP practice which works with some pretty big corporate players.
    Please meet Gemma.
