Timeless Tales Fiona May

Fantasy classic, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," by L. Frank Baum, is a great book to share with older kids. Follow Dorothy and Toto as they set off on their timeless adventure. This is the final episode for  summer  in "Timeless Tales."

From Lear's "The Owl and the Pussycat" to Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky," these poems have stood the test of time.

Have you ever heard a story that was told more than 2,000 years ago? Sure you have! Long ago, a writer in Greece created or recorded hundreds of little teaching tales, or "fables." We know that writer today simply as Aesop. If you'd like to read more of his fables, visit your local library or visit Project Gutenberg online. 

Enjoy three folk stories featuring our good friends, the birds. First is “Half-Chick,” or “Medio Pollito,” about a little chick who didn’t listen to his mother. Next is “The Cat and the Parrot,” a very silly story about being greedy. Our last tale sounds sort of familiar -- “The Rooster, the Mouse, and the Little Red Hen.” See if you recognize it!
