Hi. I am John Pinto, a registered and licensed counsellor and mental health enthusiast from Malaysia. To be incognito means to conceal one's true identity. It signifies the action of hiding from the world, and sometimes from ourselves. In this podcast, I hope to explore some general and even personal ideas of self-discovery, self improvement and growth, going beyond the veil, undoing the incognito. Hope you find this helpful. Relationship issues during Work-from-home: My thoughts

It seems like the work-from-home phenomenon is here to stay. But we should at least try and ensure the relationship problems associated with it are not a permanent feature. Here are my thoughts on the subject.

Conversations that heal: changing the way we speak about mental health

Conversations that heal: changing the way we speak about mental health

In this short episode, I talk about the stigma that stems from the way we speak about therapy and counselling or other mental health services, and how this leads to more people misunderstanding the problem of mental health, as though its only a problem for some very unfortunate souls. I hope you will find this helpful and I hope you will play your part in changing the way we speak about mental health.

Dreaming of the future to change the present: Why it's good to have goals and aspirations.

Dreaming of the future to change the present: Why it's good to have goals and aspirations.

In this episode, I try and address the question of why it is important to dream about our best possible futures, and set goals that will help us reach them, even if chances are we will never get exactly what we want. I talk a little bit about the role of dopaminergic activation in increasing motivation and alleviating pain, and how this is related to goal setting. Hope you find this helpful.

Congruence, humility and action: starting the journey of self discovery.

Congruence, humility and action: starting the journey of self discovery.

In this first episode, I share a brief introduction of myself and some of my general thoughts about incongruence mainly between self and society and between expressed beliefs and actions. I also attempt to make the case that it is the smaller, action oriented questions that matter more than the big philosophical questions that can sometimes act as a stumbling block or distraction to self-knowledge and progress. I sincerely hope you will find this useful in your own journey, wherever you may be at this point of your life.
