    WTF WRAPPED: 2021 in review

hello hello x welcome back to wtf for our final episode of season 1! this week we’re recapping on a wild ol’ year that was 2021 - which wasn’t too bad, compared to the binfire that was 2020. since time has lost all meaning, we’ll help you recall some things that actually happened in 2021 around the world, including the weird gentrification of space travel and the acceleration of humans losing themselves to the digital sphere - aka the metaverse. shit really did get weird.
aside from all the crazy external goings on, we turn to ourselves to recap on our lessons & blessings from the year, too. at a time of year renowned for extreme resolutions, smart goals and everything else that sets ourselves up for failure and/or misery, we take a step back to reflect on some highs, lows, what we’re grateful for and which principles we’ve decided will help guide ourselves to move onward & upward in 2022, without all the usual pressure and noise. spoiler alert: this year is the year of YOU huns x
join us for our final episode of season 1 as we jump here, there, everywhere - and get a bit deep while we’re at it.
as we take a break from wtf, we want to hear from you! any feedback on what you want more/less of will be factored into our plans for season 2 so please get in touch via wtfpodcastldn@gmail.com or @whatthefunkldn on instagram. your ears are important to us 3
until spring - do you, hold tite and catch you in a bizzle x

MONEY MINDSET: financial ownership & empowerment with Get Woke Not Broke

MONEY MINDSET: financial ownership & empowerment with Get Woke Not Broke

hello! you've probably heard us bang on about how expensive the last six months of freedom have been, feeling torn between making up for lost time and not wanting to let go of our lockdown savings. as friends, money is something we've learnt to discuss more openly, whether that's about our relationship with it growing up vs. now, or how our day-to-day spending and salaries compare. what's clear is that money mindset is often embedded from a young age, and there's a lot that we can learn as we move into adulthood, to put ourselves in an empowered position to make the most of something that is essentially a tool with which we govern our weird lives (capitalism, anyone?).
luckily, we are joined on this week's episode by the wonderful Holly Nardi, an investment consultant by day and founder of Get Woke Not Broke by night, a platform helping you get your financial shit together so you can move towards your money goals, whilst trying to live your best life. we discuss how our backgrounds have shaped our relationships with our finances, how to break the taboo around money, using techy tools to maximise your regular savings, prioritising your long-term best life through your pension and how to keep the planet in mind whilst investing. we might also talk a bit about crypto and shina inu coin, maybe.
join us for the penultimate episode of season 1 (!) where hopefully you'll learn something new to empower yourself or others financially, and also get some surprise bonus content from abbie whilst you're there on why she's been sniffing oranges.
as always, feel free to get in touch with us via Instagram @whatthefunkldn or email whatthefunkldn@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you!

TIRED GIRL SUMMER: boogies, burnout and balance

TIRED GIRL SUMMER: boogies, burnout and balance

hello! are we the only ones who feels like life’s been a bit of a blur post panny-d (that we're kinda still in)? readjusting to “normal” life has been pretty exhausting. with multiple lockdowns teaching many of us how to check in with and look after ourselves, how many of us have been able to keep this up after catapulting back into a life of socialising & travelling, whilst maintaining our increased standards around hustle culture & work productivity? it’s a tiring existence, we know, and one that can easily lead to burnout. but how do we know we’re nearing the point of burnout? what are the signs, how do we intercept them? and when we don’t, what tools can we use to reset ourselves and cultivate balance once again?
in this episode of WTF, we explore all of this in the context of our recent movements but don’t get it twisted - we wished we properly practiced what we preach. these gals are trying. join us for a (slightly bevved) chat live from @theboatpod, who invited us down for a very cool experience in their amazing recording studio on Regent’s Canal in West London. check them out for all your audio recording needs at the theboatpod.com on the worldwideweb or @theboatpod on Instagram.

MANIFESTATION: overcoming limiting beliefs & realising your desires

hello! apologies for the small delay, we’ve been busy living life and stuff. but are we are BACK with an episode on one of our favourite topics - manifestation. WTF is manifestation, we hear you say? luckily we are joined by the lovely Gaby Power (@itsgabypower), certified life coach and founder of @powermoves.coaching, who explains it a bit better than we do - essentially it's a way to achieve your goals and realising your dreams through channeling the power of your mind, emotions and energy. we also chat about how many of us are regularly affected by what is known as limiting beliefs - opinions about ourselves or abilities that hold us back in life - and after #realising that these exist, we discuss how you can combat them effectively with tools like affirmation, manifestation and reflection. join us as we get very excited about transforming our minds, setting goals, taking baby steps to get shit done and ultimately, making magic happen.
have something to say? we want to hear from you! drop a review on Apple Podcasts, send us a line at wtfpodcastldn@gmail.com or dm us on insta @whatthefunkldn. alternatively, if you have our numbers, send us a rambley 9-minute voicenote - we probably owe you a listen.

GRIEF: loss during lockdown, creating a community & the power of friendship

GRIEF: loss during lockdown, creating a community & the power of friendship

hello! welcome back to WTF, where this week we won’t be discussing the unserious, and not exactly the serious either. in this episode we’ll be speaking about grief - something we have all collectively experienced in the past year through losing our sense of freedom in the wake of the pandemic. in particular, we’ll be exploring Nafeesa’s experience of grieving the loss of a loved one during lockdown, after her 31 year old sister Saima Thompson sadly passed away in June 2020 slap bang in the middle of the pandemic. starting with the initial cancer diagnosis, we move through her family’s experiences of normalising trauma, going through anticipatory grief and preparing for loss together.
we also talk about how feelings of isolation during lockdown, both physical and emotional, led her to connect to others experiencing young grief by setting up a community platform - Goodness Gracious Grief (@goodnessgraciousgrief / www.goodnessgraciousgrief.co.uk). and after exploring the importance of such support networks, we reflect on the role that strong friendships has to play in not only ‘showing up’ throughout this difficult process, but also in helping you to reconnect to your sense of self when your identity becomes impacted by life-changing events.
join us for what will be an emotional but very special episode, as we honour the incredible Saima Thompson; writer, campaigner, podcaster, public speaker, entrepreneur and founder of award winning Masala Wala Cafe (@masalawalacafe) - but most importantly, an amazing big sister, daughter, wife and wonderful friend who compacted a lifetime of love, work and close connections with people during her 31 years.

INNER WORK & the white-washed wellness industry with YSM8

hello! in this episode we will be exploring why we should care where our wellness practices come from and how to understand what appropriating them means. we are joined today by Poonam Dhuffer, the founder of YSM8, and a wellbeing practitioner with a background in lifestyle and wellness insights who is incredibly passionate about creating inclusive spaces for all people regardless of their background or beliefs. we dive headfirst into the problematic whitewashed wellness industry and what we can do at an individual level to offset this. join us for a slightly longer episode as we just couldn’t face cutting the brilliant chat we had with Poonam. you can expect to learn what doing the “inner work” is and how this can be tailored to suit to your lifestyle, how growth is achieved through discomfort, what it means to be self-confident and how to start “snacksize” with your wellbeing practices. you can find Poonam over on instagram @_ysm8 and on her website www.ysm8.co.uk.
