    Word for Word is hosted by Lisa Daniel and her guest this week is Dan Lake. Dan is an entertainment executive and content producer whose work in development, financing and production extends across feature film, broadcast drama and comedy as well as factual and reality programming. Currently the head of content at Orange Entertainment Co, Dan’s work has encompassed award-winning feature and documentary films, as well as working as a creative producer across some of the world’s biggest television formats – I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, The Block  and  MasterChef. 

    During his time at Orange Entertainment Co, Dan has produced the ABC dramedy  Retrograde, as well as executive produced the Network Ten/ Fremantle Media documentary series  Lindy Chamberlain – The True Story. In 2020 Dan’s Orange Entertainment Co bought the screen rights to Shannon Molloy’s autobiographical book  Fourteen, which chronicles one year of his life as a gay teenager in regional Queensland. Dan currently lives in Melbourne with his husband Daniel.

    Grace Lee talks openly with Lisa Daniel

    Join Lisa Daniel on Word for Word. Lisa’s guest this week is Grace Lee. Grace was born in the UK and emigrated to Australia in 1990. With a career that has spanned academia and the IT industry as a project manager, Grace is now a psychotherapist and counsellor who has extensive experience working with trans, gender diverse and non-binary people. With her second wife Sheila, Grace co-founded Ovarian Cancer Australia and was Chair of Board of Directors for the first 10 years and remained on the Board for a further 7 years. She is still involved, but also now works for Thorne Harbour and Switchboard Victoria – which is a community based not-for-profit organisation which supports the LGBTIQA+ communities and their allies, friends, support workers and families.

    Today’s guest on Word for Word with host Lisa Daniel is RWR McDonald. Rob is an award-winning author, a Kiwi and queer dad who lives in Melbourne with his two daughters and a cat called Harry. His debut novel,  The Nancys,  won Best First Novel in the 2020 Ngaio Marsh Awards, as well as being a finalist in the Best Novel category.  It was shortlisted for Best First Novel in the 2020 Ned Kelly Awards, and Highly Commended for an Unpublished Manuscript in the 2017 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards. The sequel to the Nancy’s, aptly named Nancy Business is due out in  June 2021. Rob discusses his journey from a small New Zealand town and idyllic childhood, to becoming an award winning published author, where it was not always smooth sailing.

    Today’s guest with Lisa Daniel on Word for Word is Linzi Kurileff.  Linzi Kurileff has been somewhat of an unsung hero amongst Melbourne’s queer community for more decades than she would be happy to admit. Some highlights include managing the legendary Glasshouse hotel; being heavily involved in the ALSO Foundation over a number of years; Co- presenter at JOY; Vice president/President BENT TV; Vice President of Victoria’s Pride March, including MC of the main stage for well over a decade; and many more that we’ll tease out during the next hour. 2020 proved to be a hugely challenging year for Linzi when a major health battle changed her life forever.

    Ruth Katerelos on Word for Word 2021

    Today’s guest with Lisa Daniel on Word for Word is Ruth Katerelos. Ruth is a registered psychologist with over 20 years experience working in the area of mental health. Combining private practice with her role at Queerspace, my guest also manages to find time to be a regular contributor to Melbourne’s arts scene as a performer and producer. On top of that she is also mum to two teenagers. Over the journey Ruth has dealt with a challenging upbringing and the grief of losing a partner. Despite the challenges Ruth has made it her life work to both entertain, but help others via her performance work and as a respected mental health professional.
