#5: You, Yash Atishay: Don’t let someone treat you like dal chawal when you’re a chicken biryani!

On this episode of You,Me&Us, I’m so happy to have a conversation with Yash Atishay, a Mumbai based entrepreneur, videographer and editor. He’s currently single and has been for a little over 2 years.

On this episode, we talk about a wide range of subjects from; the Kama Sutra, to human connection, to breakups, to porn, to sex in India, and more… He opens up about the taboo of talking about sex, even amongst friends. We talk about the lockdown, isolation and suicide. We discuss how we could potentially treat each other better than we do. We dig into the idea of shortcomings, flaws and self-acceptance.

He thinks relationships are essential for us to function as humans and that being in a relationship is great because it teaches us multiple things that we cannot learn otherwise. He’s experienced a really ugly breakup, he’s also not the type who can have one night stands and move on. He generally gets emotionally attached and invested.

Also, just a heads up, this episode was recorded online due to COVID19, and internet can be shabby on a monsoon rainy day, so there are some few minor lags in the connection at times, but nothing that will bother you too much. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to be able to enjoy Yash’s sense of humor and insightful perspective. Enjoy!

#4: You, Namita Kulkarni: The patriarchy, female pleasure and sexual assault in India.

On this episode of You,Me&Us, I’m in conversation with Namita Kulkarni, a 35 years old, yoga teacher, writer, artist and world traveler, living in Bangalore/Mysore, India. In this episode, we touch upon many taboo topics in India, such as: female sexuality and pleasure, abuse, being a single Indian woman in your mid 30’s and the patriarchy! We dive a little deeper into the difficult territories of: sexual assault, victim blaming, and the responsibility of our communities to help women heal.

We also talk about self-abandonment, the importance of emotional intelligence, and self-esteem. Namita believes you date and relate at the level of your self-esteem. We talk about connection and our relational needs as a species. We touch upon ‘silent contracts’ and how they harm our relationships and how clarity might be the key! And we dig into the concepts of discernment and having higher standards for what we entertain in our lives. We try to see, how we can foster honesty and integrity in a breakup — and exit a relationship with grace.

She’s currently single. Her last relationship ended about 3 years ago and recently, she just got out of what she calls and ‘entanglement’.

Just a heads up, this episode was recorded online due to COVID19, and internet can be shabby on a monsoon rainy day, so there are some few minor lags in the connection at times, but nothing that will bother you too much. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to soak in every insightful word shared by Namita. Enjoy!

#3: You, Annida Kathuria, 23, world traveler ON: Love as flow & effortlesness

On this episode of You,Me & US, I’m delighted to have a beautiful and soulful conversation with soon to be 23 year old, Annida Kathuria - A Mumbai based world traveler who makes wonderful travel films. Annida shares her perspective on love & relationships and life experience so far.

She’s currently single and has never yet had a long-term relationship. For her, a relationships is purely a collaboration of thoughts and an exchange of energy between people. She doesn’t believe in having multiple partners at the same time, it’s not for her. She’s what we could call a wanderer, approaching life one day at a time with an open heart and open mind. One of the major lessons she’s learned so far, is that each individual is different and that she doesn’t need someone to complete here. Together, we talked about what her relationships have taught her so far, the flow state in love and life, the idea of effortlessness in relationships, aloneness, and more...

Just a heads up, this episode was recorded online due to COVID19, and internet can be shabby on rainy days, so there are some minor lags in the connection at times, but nothing that will bother you too much. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to soak in the beautiful wisdom shared by Annida.

#2: Me, Vulnerable, from being someone's person to a stranger

#2: Me, Vulnerable, from being someone's person to a stranger

In this 2nd episode of You,Me&Us, I'll be continuing my contemplations on love & relationships. I get candid with you, a little vulnerable and raw too, sharing about the recent chaos in my life, as well as some of my views on relationships from my lived experience so far.

In this 2nd part of the 2 part launch episodes, I touch upon: false promises, how it feels to go from being someone's "person" to a stranger again, the decisions we make, what commitment and responsibility mean, breakups and how we tend to blame ourselves when we've been broken up with, our shadows and patterns in relationships and more...

I explore the widespread notion of "choosing ourselves first" and question it's validity. I also share some beautiful thoughts on commitment from one of my mentors, Richard Rudd and a few more passages from the ever insightful Marianne Williamson's book, 'A Return to Love'. You can listen to this episode if you haven't heard the first one yet. But, do yourself a favor, listen to episode #1. It has so much valuable wisdom from wonderful souls!

All of life is a relationship, we are constantly relating with everything around us; giving and receiving feedback, projecting and being projected on... My sincere quest is to understand how we can relate better and truly love and be loved for who we are; because that's what I would love to have more of in my life and for everyone to experience.

‘In the modern age, when relationships become very difficult, no matter how hard we may try to save the relationship, many of us find no other alternative but separation. However, when you really understand, you may reframe the whole purpose of the relationships in your life." - Richard Rudd

#1: Me, Reflecting on love & relationships

#1: Me, Reflecting on love & relationships

How does our ego ruin or get in the way of relationships? What is the true purpose of  intimate relationships? Is there such a thing as Mr or Mrs Right? What does commitment mean? How can we stop rejecting one another for being human? How can we find honest expression within our relationships, before it's too late? Can mutual understanding and forgiveness nurture our relationships?

In this first episode of You,Me&Us, I reflect on love and relationships with you. This is the 1st part of a 2 part episode. The first 2 episodes of You,Me&Us are a deep dive into some of the material I've been reading about love and relationships that have helped me and transformed my views on relationships in a BIG way! I'll also be sharing bits of my experience, thoughts I've gathered along the ways and personal contemplations on topics that are dear to my heart.

I share different perspectives on love and relationships as presented by some wonderful souls such as; Lisa Bilyeu, and Marianne Williamson in her must read book 'A Return To Love'. The concepts explored in this episode include: the ego, commitment, 'special' relationships, 'holy' relationships, spirituality, the 'ex',  LOVE and much more...

I hope you will find value in this episode and the ideas discussed in the 1st part of this 2 part episode. I hope it will open your mind and heart to a different perspective and give you refreshed insights that will benefit your life and relationships.

"An intimate romantic lover, is like taking graduate work towards a PHD in the ways of love, and many of us are hardly out of elementary school." - Marianne Williamson

    Introducing : " You, Me & US"

    Introducing : " You, Me & US"

You, Me & US is a podcast hosted by me, Lilya Sabatier, a flawed human being on a journey to understand how we can relate better. Essentially, it’s an exploration into the vast subject of relationships.

Did you know that the #love has been used over 1,8billion times on Instagram?

On this podcast I’ll be having raw, honest, fun and insightful conversations with people from all walks of life; Whether in a relationship, single, looking for love & more. We’ll be exploring different kinds of relationships and relationship dynamics. Sharing our very human stories, experiences, learnings, insights, heartbreaks, triumphs, silver linings & all the things related to our hearts and close relationships.

I’ll also be sharing my personal experience, contemplations on love & relationships as they arise along the way, valuable wisdom I’ve found through mentors, friends, reading, enquiry, conversations & more.

These are mostly adult conversations, suitable for all those who want to learn.

As we navigate this very intimate space of sharing about our relationships and matters of the heart, the most important thing is mutual respect; Respect for people's perspectives and life experiences. It takes courage to share one's most intimate stories with the world. And what's more intimate than what's going on in our hearts and close relationships?

The aim of this podcast is to help each other navigate the delicate territories of the heart and intimate relationships, to create a space of honest expression that may add value to our lives and benefit our relationships. I hope the conversations and thoughts shared here, will spark something in your life, and will in some way support you to have a better understanding of the art of relating, of what's out there, what's possible and what other human beings are experiencing around the world.

My hope is for all of us to learn from these real life experiences, to open our minds and hearts and gain new perspectives and understanding on the art of relating. Because, at the end of the day, we all want to love and be loved for who we are.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you’ve subscribed, rated and reviewed. It would mean the world to me!

    Love & light,

    Lilya

"What would be the purpose of an open heart if not to relate with others? Here we touch the essence of life. When you ask those who are dying what in their lives has mattered to them the most, they will almost always tell you the names of their loved ones and friends. Therefore we will use our relationships as our means of transformation. Wherever the drama is greatest for you, whether it’s your husband, wife, parent, child, partner, enemy, or friend, there is the place of greatest potential and magic. Deep contemplation on the way you behave in all your relationships will betray hidden patterns of resistance to your Dharma. These teachings are about letting go of your self-image. Where your Dharma is concerned, you can only surrender." - Richard Rudd
