a plane must taxi the runway before takeoff yet i never hesitated handing you my heart. and across this abstract sphere of nothingness we now find ourselves there remains no gate for boarding, no means to come home. luggage heavier than my head and shuffling feet replace the space to rest either. the plans we made a hole i fell in. my father worked so hard he sometimes fell asleep eating dinner at the table and i blink out the same way thinking of you standing up, waiting for my reveries to take speed before flying away. it’s always the same. a duffle bag swollen with love i carry wedged between my shoes and the uncomfortable reminder this seat remains in upright position. in my hands all the hope i have ever wrung. the passengers believe me scared of flying but i’m terrified of staying on the ground.
