Pentecost: The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

Pentecost: The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

This last Sunday Alex read from 2 Corinthians 3v7-18, teaching us about the completely radical life available to us through Jesus’ death and resurrection. This life comes to us through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirt’s job is to reveal the love and glory of God to us - to reveal Christ.
As we behold Christ we grow to love and trust Him with increasing measure. Our thoughts, our will and our desires begin to line up with His, and heaven comes to earth.
Surrender is how we receive the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Surrender isn’t always easy but it is simple. In every area that you surrender, you will experience life; and in every area that you don’t surrender you will experience death.
What God wants to do through His Church, cannot be accomplished without the ministry of the Holy Spirit. So may we learn to live as sacrifices, that God’s kingdom might expand throughout the earth.

    Pentecost: Living By The Spirit

    Pentecost: Living By The Spirit

In the weeks leading up to Pentecost we will be in a series on the Holy Spirit. The aim of this series is that we would increase in our need of, desire for, and dependence on the Spirit of Jesus.
On Sunday Alex taught us through Galatians 5v13-25 and dismantled the lie that you were called to be something you cannot become.
Jesus went to the cross to take away our sins and He gave us His Spirit so that we could actually then become one with God.
Our oneness with God by the Holy Spirit is what causes us to bear the fruit of the kingdom. We have a responsibility to daily position ourselves so that the Holy Spirit can minister God’s love to us. This is how we are transformed into the people God designed us to be.

Life of the Church: Holy Bride

Life of the Church: Holy Bride

On Sunday we were joined by our friend Theresa Dion, from After the Rain Christian Ministries. Theresa talked to us about what it means to be the holy bride of Christ. If a ready bride is free, then a holy bride has consecrated herself to do the will of God.Jesus is looking for faithfulness. He is looking for those who will continually receive His unending love, and respond in trust with obedience. Agreeing with God’s word is how you walk in holiness. You must first acknowledge your need for Him in order to be empowered by Him. It’s not what we do that makes us holy, but who we are in Christ. This holiness releases the power of God. If we want to see the kingdom come, we as the Church must increase in holiness.

Life of the Church: Staying Behind Jesus

Life of the Church: Staying Behind Jesus

This last Sunday we were joined by guest speaker, Phil Zahn. Phil imparted to us single-mindedness and simple love for Jesus.
When we give up our right to understand and control our lives, Jesus is able to lead us the way He wants to. Our job is to never get ahead of Him, but to stay close beside Him and behind Him, to let Him lead.
God is so trustworthy. He protects us, tells us the truth, keeps His word, and He loves spending time with us.
You were designed for this kind of relationship with Him, and this relationship is actually how the kingdom of God expands on earth.

    Baptism: The Baptism of Fire

    Baptism: The Baptism of Fire

This last Sunday, we wrapped up our Baptism Series with a teaching on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus intended you to live a life completely submerged in His Holy Spirit. Throughout the New Testament we see the filling of the Holy Spirit as a repeated experience in the life of the believer. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a baptism of love. It’s designed to purify you, to lead you, and to put God’s glory on display through you. God has designed it so that for your whole life you are surrounded by and filled with the fire of His love so that you can become love.

May we continually open ourselves up to be filled again with His Spirit that we might experience all that He has for us!

Easter 2024: Eat From The Tree of Life

Easter 2024: Eat From The Tree of Life

As Christians, we believe that Jesus’ Resurrection is the most significant event in all of human history.

The Resurrection solves the ultimate problem that all other problems point to - death.

Ever since Adam and Eve chose death in the garden, humans have been arranging their lives to avoid the pain, loss and suffering that comes with mortality.

God didn’t make humans to die, so He came and died as a human and was raised, that we could live forever with Him. The ultimate gift, the greatest news of all time. This is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday.
