We always say that births come in sets of 3. We were proved very right in this rule when we had 3 babies in 1 day, on the full moon. It was an exciting day and an exciting month. Oh the joys and hardships of birth in the winter. We have had a completely full schedule this month as well as several snow storms. The Unconscious Bias Bill...what is it? And why is it so important for the future of birth? We have always recognized a vast difference in regards to birthing outcomes within different cultures and non-white communities across our country. The Unconscious Bias Bill, if passed, is a huge step in filling those gaps within the state of Virginia. Today we interview Kathryn Haines and Kenda Sutton-El, who have been working tirelessly to pass this bill to help improve birthing outcomes for all people. Triage...the time between the heads up that a client thinks labor is starting and the decision to head to the birth space. It is a tricky time as labor can sometimes fool us all. Today we discuss some of the ways we each handle this time period and some of the tools we use. Cheers!

Sexual education is so important for our growing children. We have found that the sexual education in our country is sorely lacking in efficacy. It isn't lowering teen pregnancy or sti transmission, and it isn't working well to teach our youth about healthy sexual relationships and boundaries. Today we talk about our opinions on the current state of sex ed. Cheers!!
