Hello and welcome to Babushka – a podcast dedicated to Russian culture and its peculiarities. Today’s episode is special as it opens the new section of our podcast called "Letters from the Past". Today we're gonna give you a taste of how personal correspondence can add to our understanding of historical events and even reveal something brand new about them. We'll see what occupied the minds of notable women of the Russian Empire, take a peek inside Ivan's the Terrible letters to his close friend (oh boy, would we get executed for that just a couple of centuries ago) and try to find something we could relate to.

In Episode 2 of "Letters from the Past" we continue looking into the letters of notable Russian people and attempt to analyze our culture through the prism of their thoughts and observations. Today we will look at the post-war Russia through the eyes of Vasily Sukhomlinsky, a famous Soviet psychologist and educator. So grab a cup of tea, tune in and get ready to travel back in time!
