How Different Would BYU Football's Reality Be If Kalani Sitake Had Picked Tennessee?

How Different Would BYU Football's Reality Be If Kalani Sitake Had Picked Tennessee?

The BYU Cougars may have looked a lot different in 2024 had University of Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham taken the Tennessee Volunteers head coaching position in 2010 and taken BYU football coach Kalani Sitake with him to Rocky Top as was detailed by Sitake this week as Jake Hatch and JT Wistrcill had some thoughts on the what-if scenario that may have occurred.

Jake and JT talked about the outcomes of what the state of college football may have looked like had Kyle Whittingham left the Utah Utes and if it would have still led to Kalani Sitake being the head coach of Brigham Young University or if he may have been the head man at Utah with Bronco Mendenhall remaining in place at BYU with both programs on a more even footing.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on the hypothetical and reality of the Holy War rivalry between BYU and Utah if Whit had gone to Knoxville and why the relationship between Whittingham and Sitake is something that all Cougar and Ute fans can learn from as they maintain a civiility and friendship despite being on opposite sidelines of a fierce rivalry.

BYU Football May Have Found A QB That Answers Their Big 12 Questions & Prayers

BYU Football May Have Found A QB That Answers Their Big 12 Questions & Prayers

The BYU Cougars recieved a commitment from Tualatin, Oregon prospect Nolan Keeney Thursday and Jake Hatch says that Keeney may offer the BYU football program and Cougar Nation by extension hopes that their quarterback position will not be the question mark it has become with Jake Retzlaff, Gerry Bohanon and McCae Hillstead, among others, hoping to prove themselves.

Thursday also saw Kalani Sitake, Jay Hill and the Brigham Young University (BYU) defense add a player in former UCLA Bruin Choé Bryant-Strother and he carries on a family legacy started by his brother, former BYU basketball star Elijah Bryant, as he goes about looking to establish himself among a defensive front-seven that needs Power 4 experience he offers.

Finally, the show wrapped up with Jake's impressions from media availability that the BYU men's basketball program held with head coach Kevin Young and junior guard Dallin Hall as Jake explains that he remains impressed with the inner drive that "KYU" exudes and why it appears he is well on his way to establishing a baseline for how BYU will operate under his direction.

The Brothers Pay Living The 'Dream' As BYU Football Enters Summer Prep Period

The Brothers Pay Living The 'Dream' As BYU Football Enters Summer Prep Period

The BYU Cougars are in the summer conditioning period of their calendar with summer camps taking place at Brigham Young University (BYU) and official visits happening for Kalani Sitake and his coaching staff and that is extended out to Connor, Trevor and Austin Pay, with the trio joining the podcast to check in on how they're doing with the BYU football season on its way.

Austin clarified for BYU fans what his recruiting status is right now and if he plans to make an official visit to Provo while Trevor explained what it's been like just home from a mission and working out while Connor explained what his final offseason as a college football player looks and feels like as he prepares to lead BYU in their second season in the Big 12 Conference.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on which brother is the strongest, best athlete, one that is ranked in the top-100 in the world at the moment and what it's like to be part of a family that has produced four college offensive linemen, among a number of different topics Jake Hatch as the the Brothers Pay covered in this episode.

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Building Promising Foundation For Big 12 Success

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Building Promising Foundation For Big 12 Success

The BYU Cougars continue to build out Kevin Young's vision for the BYU men's basketball program with the hires of Will Voigt and Tim Fanning as BYU basketball assistant coaches and it's clear that what KYU hopes to build at Brigham Young University (BYU) will have a sturdy foundation while also allowing his players to live their dreams in the NBA and elsewhere.

Jake Hatch then talked about the impending visit of Jamari Phillips to BYU and what his possible addition to the BYU hoops program could do to take an already-strong lineup and embolden it even further with the thought that there could be role players in Provo that are top-tier recruits and that's only going to make the Cougar Cagers that much better.

Finally, the show wrapped up with some reaction to Daniel Schneeman and Justin Sterner making strong Major League Baseball debuts as former BYU baseball stars and a look at what the BYU football program did to woo four-star prospect Micah Matthews on his recent visit to Provo and if Kalani Sitake, Aaron Roderick and the rest of the Cougars can land his commitment.

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Land Mawot Mag & It's OK For BYU Football Excitement

BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Land Mawot Mag & It's OK For BYU Football Excitement

The BYU Cougars continue to build out Kevin Young's initial Big 12 Conference roster and Rutgers Scarlet Knight grad transfer Mawot Mag became the most-recent addition to the BYU men's basketball program and his fit seems be atypical of most NCAA Transfer Portal additions, but it appears to be a saavy pick up foe BYU basketball according to Jake Hatch and Jeff Hansen.

Jeff and Jake then talked about what prodded Hansen to write his second annual BYU football season preview magazine (BUY IT HERE) and what fans of Brigham Young University (BYU) will find in the 135 pages of intel on the Kalani Sitake's program as well as their 12 regular season opponents they will face this season in their second season as members of the Big 12.

Finally, the show wrapped up with Jeff's reasoning for BYU fans to be more excited and enthused about the BYU football program than it appears they are and what gives him confidence that Aaron Roderick, Jay Hill, Connor Pay and whoever ends up starting at quarterback this season, among others, can lead the Cougars back to the postseason again.

BYU Football Gets Good News From Big 12 While BYU Basketball Keeps on Grinding

BYU Football Gets Good News From Big 12 While BYU Basketball Keeps on Grinding

The BYU Cougars will be on in primetime early in the 2024 BYU football season and Jake Hatch says that if Brigham Young University (BYU) is truly being affected by their so-called "vampire coug" issue, that shouldn't be a concern for Kalani Sitake's program at least early on in the season as they look to rebound from a subpar 2023 season in the Big 12 Conference.

Jake then talked about the latest he's hearing ans seeing from Kevin Young and the BYU men's basketball program with the names of possible assistant coaching hires he's monitoring as well as top-shelf 2025 recruits receiving BYU basketball offers and the top-rated prospect in the next recruiting cycle, AJ Dybantsa, set to make an unofficial visit to BYU Monday.

Finally, the show wrapped up with questions from the Locked On Cougars insiders group dealing with the status of prosects like Hugo Gonzalez, Berke Buyuktuncel and Maxim Logue along with thoughts on what BYU basketball needs to do to keep the good times rolling and what Jake's favorite fruit(s) is to eat, among other topics broached.
