    4. the queen's gigabit

whether its playing chess or coding, there's a lot to learn, but no one said you can't put your lipstick on and look cute while doing it! beth harmon is a stem girl, there i said it! netflix's the queen's gambit, based off the novel by walter tevis, brings to life beth harmon a kentucky gal who becomes a chess prodigy. this story and the struggles the character beth goes through struck a chord in me as a female software engineer in the tech industry & in this episode i walk through these similarities. anya taylor-joy played the hell out of this character & i'll forever look back and feel comforted seeing a hot nerdy girl spend her free time studying up on chess.

    2. tiny miracles

    2. tiny miracles

sometimes alot of little tiny things can line up and happen so fortunately that they open up the right doors for you. for me, that's how it feels when i look back at my own tech journey and what made me think i was cut out for being a software engineer, especially as a latina. in the spirit of sharing stories of underrepresented devs, i decided to share some of my own experiences on why i think being creative, crafty, and nosy all play a part in being a software developer, and how i didn't know right away i'd be calling myself an engineer when i grew up wanting to be an artist.
