Today’s message …
We often think of Jesus as a kind, gentle man. And he was. But Jesus got angry. In this series we’re looking at what made Jesus angry, and what this means for us today. In this episode, we explore Jesus’ anger when he saw people focussed on “outward appearances” instead of what’s important inside a person. It made him mad! Jesus’ words are an important challenge to a 21st century world that seems obsessed with what we wear, where we live, what we drive and what we buy.

1. On a scale from 1-10, how much do you struggle with your outward appearance?
2. In your own words, why do you think Jesus was angry about the way people were focussed on outward things rather than the inside things?

Stand Up for the Least
Series: Angry

We often think of Jesus as a kind, gentle man. And he was. But Jesus got angry. In this series we’re looking at what made Jesus angry, and what this means for us today. In this episode, we explore Jesus’ anger when he saw “the least” in society being oppressed and ignored. It made him mad! The “least” were important to Jesus and he expects them to be important to anyone who says they follow Jesus too. In this message we explore what it means for us to speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves.

2. In your own words, why do you think Jesus was angry about the treatment of “the least” in his society??
3. Jesus calls his followers to care for the poor, the lost and the lonely - how do you make about this idea a reality in your own life?

Hypocrisy
Series: Angry

We often think of Jesus as a kind, gentle man. And he was. But Jesus got angry. In this series we’re looking at what made Jesus angry, and what this means for us today. In this episode, we explore Jesus’ anger when he saw hypocrisy. It made his mad! But we’re all at least a little hypocritical. What does Jesus say about our hypocrisy, and what can we do about it. We hope this message will challenge you to be honest about your own hypocrisy and to invite the Holy Spirit to change your heart.

1. What do you think of when you hear the word “hypocrisy”?
2. Why do you think Jesus was so angry about hypocrisy in the church?

Love one another
Series: Who We Are

When someone asked Jesus what was the most important command to live by, Jesus answered with one word … LOVE: love God with all you’ve got and love others. In today’s message we talk about what Jesus meant and what it means for our lives and our church today.

Eternal rest
Series: Rest

Rest is a theme that runs throughout the Bible from the first pages to last. In this message, we look at ‘eternal rest’ or what we often call ‘eternal life’ or ‘heaven’. The writers of the Bible talk about eternal rest not just as something that happens after we die, but also as something the affects the way we live before we die.

Finding rest in the storm
