Could Presidential Election Hinge on Wisconsin’s Gaza Vote?
In Wisconsin’s April 2nd state presidential preference primary, over 47,000 citizens cast their ballot for “uninstructed” as a way to protest the Biden Administration’s unwavering support for Israel in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Reema Ahmad, today’s guest on the 8 O’Clock Buzz, talks with host Tony Castañeda about how important these “Gaza voters” are to Biden, and how his administration’s handling of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and position on military funding for Israel could cost him the November election.
Ahmad is a political strategist and the Campaign Manager for Listen to Wisconsin’s Uninstructed Campaign.

Remnant Alliance: Right-Wing Candidates Coming to a School Board Near ...
Steven Monacelli, Dallas-based freelance investigative reporter, has been reporting on the Remnant Alliance, a coalition of seven groups espousing “Christian Nationalism” — a doctrine to provide a ruling “privilege Christianity” in law, policies, elimination of the separation of church and state. This religious movement is grooming and funding right-wing candidates for local school board elections in Texas and other states to advance their religious governmental goals.

Update From Brazil
People living in southern Brazil, already dealing with the destruction of heavy flooding, were hammered again with torrential rain in the past week with more devastation forecast for the coming days. Paulo Andrave, a Brazilian artist and social commentator visiting the Madison area joins host Tony Castañeda of the Thursday 8 O’Clock Buzz to talk about the deadly flooding but also about the political situation in the country. The former President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, led a government that was anti-environment and pro-business that coupled with climate change has resulted in devasting consequences for the Brazilian people. Extensive deforestation undertaken to promote new development has exacerbated the effects of flooding.

All Craft On Tap
WORTstock 2024 is this Sunday, May 19, and once again Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild is sponsoring the beverage selection on tap at the festival. Fred Swanson of the Guild joins host Tony Castañeda of the Thursday edition of the 8 O’Clock Buzz to discuss this year’s lineup of beverages and the state of brewing in the Madison area. There will no less than sixteen beverage selections on tap at any one time at the event, with different options rotating in and out as supplies last. There will be only one new brewery featured this year which reflects the slight downturn in craft beer sales nationwide. So, get over to Warner Park this Sunday, enjoy a beverage or two, and support this most worthwhile fund-raising event with other like-minded community members.
