04 I don't know but I've been told ...
There was no room for us at Fort Ord, California, so they loaded us on busses and sent us across the country to a place called Fort Polk, Louisiana.
It was there they would try to turn a bunch of civilians into members of the world's most powerful military.

00 Introduction to the podcast.
About a half century ago, there was a war on the other side of the planet. My country needed men to fight that war, so the politicians looked around and there we were -- the Baby Boomers.
Some volunteered but most were drafted.
Even though fighting in a war had not been big on our list of things to do in life, a lot of us got to experience it.
And there were lessons to be learned. Lots and lots of lessons.
That's what this podcast is about ... the lessons I learned about a half century ago while serving in the United States Army.
