Las Weavers Episode #5: Holding Space in the Midst of Colonial Violence

In this episode, we hold space for the collective grief, rage, deep sorrow, but also shame, powerlessness, hopelessness, and other difficult emotions that may be coming up for us in the midst of the genocide we are witnessing. We discuss the connection of our own historical remembrance with that of our siblings in Palestine, and parallels of our struggles as BIPOC and Latinx people.

Season 1, Episode 3: My Racial Trauma Was Triggered

Season 1, Episode 3: My Racial Trauma Was Triggered

This week’s episode is called: My Racial Trauma was Triggered. In this episode, I discuss how the January 6th event at the Capitol triggered my own, and likely many other BIPOC’s racial trauma. I process my own reactions, and discuss how our emotional reactions relate to racial trauma and negative core beliefs that have been internalized and reinforced through multiple experiences of racism and discrimination, and how anger is a secondary emotion that masks underlying emotions. Since we are discussing a sensitive subject, please note that this episode may be triggering for some.
