This is part two of our interview with Head Men's Soccer Coach Mauricio Ruiz and Joby Slay, author of Get More for Coaches. Jacksonville University Men's Soccer is a NCAA Division 1 program. Coach Mauricio shares his journey of moving to the United States from Brazil as a youth and the struggles of transitioning into his new environment. He discusses his path from player to youth coach and how he left his IT job to pursue his passion to eventually coach full-time at the collegiate level. Coach Mauricio describes the differences and similarities of coaching at the youth level and collegiate level and what it means for him to be successful as a coach. He also shares a lesson he learned from the most influential coach in his life that he still uses in his coaching today.
