148: Mini Series: Teach What You Know Part 2 - Knowing Your Niche

148: Mini Series: Teach What You Know Part 2 - Knowing Your Niche

If you've ever thought about adding teaching to your repertoire, you're in the right place. Today, we're diving into how to narrow down the topics you can teach, a crucial step if you're looking to diversify your revenue streams. Often, the decision to start teaching comes before you're entirely sure what you'll teach. It's an exciting journey, and once you take the plunge, you'll likely find that you love sharing your knowledge with others.
Teaching can be incredibly rewarding, but it all starts with ideation. This episode will guide you through a vision-storming session with five essential questions to help you pinpoint exactly what you should teach. We'll explore what makes your craft unique, those informal moments where you naturally fall into a teaching role, and what people are most curious about when they ask you about your work.
Firstly, consider what is unique about what you want to teach. Think about the distinctive aspects of your craft—those elements that set your work apart. Reflect on your informal teaching moments; these are the times when you've naturally found yourself explaining or demonstrating your process to others. These moments can provide valuable insights into what you're naturally inclined to teach.
Additionally, research market needs and gaps. While it's unlikely you'll find something completely untapped, teaching from your unique perspective can fill a niche and offer something fresh. Pause and assess your personal passion. Ideating can be exhilarating, but slow down to ensure the topic you choose is something you're deeply passionate about. Once you start teaching, it may become a significant part of your career, so it's vital to choose a subject you can talk about for a long time without losing interest.
And last but definitely not least, consider how you can make this uniquely you. Brainstorm the specific ways you approach your craft and create a mind map of your process. This personal touch will not only make your teaching more engaging but also distinguish your offerings from others in the market.
By the end of this episode, I hope you'll have a clearer vision of what you can teach and how to transform your passion into a fulfilling new aspect of your creative business.

147: Mini Series: Teach What You Know Part 1 - Overcoming the Naysayers

147: Mini Series: Teach What You Know Part 1 - Overcoming the Naysayers

Welcome to today's episode! If you're a creative, you've likely mastered your craft through countless hours of dedication, experimentation, and practice. But have you ever considered sharing that expertise with others? Today, we're diving into why I believe that as creatives, we should also embrace the role of educators. Teaching what we know isn't just about imparting skills; it's about empowering others, giving back to our community, and enriching our own professional journeys.
Many creatives hesitate when it comes to teaching. There's a common fear of being judged or not being taken seriously. The term "selling out" gets thrown around, implying that turning to education somehow tarnishes the purity of our work. But let's shift that mindset. Sharing our knowledge is not about diluting our craft; it's about spreading the passion and expertise we've cultivated. It's our responsibility to contribute to the growth of our industry and uplift fellow creatives.
The benefits of teaching your craft are profound and in this episode, you’ll learn ten reasons why you should consider teaching what you know. I encourage you to take the leap. The rewards, both personal and professional, are well worth it.

    146: The Power of Coaching

    146: The Power of Coaching

Today, I peel back the curtain to share what's been working for my own business. For me, investing in coaching has been a game-changer. If you’re looking to level up your business, understanding the power of coaching can be monumental. This year, I’ve invested more in my education and development than ever before, and it’s been one of the most powerful ways to break through barriers and reach new heights.
In this episode, I’ll share my personal journey of investing in coaching and how it has transformed my professional and personal life. I’ve discovered that many barriers we face in business are more about our thoughts and mindset than external obstacles. My investment this year hasn’t just been in a mastermind, although I love being part of one. Instead, it’s been in a coaching program, something I’ve never been involved in until now.
We’ll dive into the differences between a mastermind and a group coaching program, and how each serves a unique purpose. We’ll also explore the distinctions between group coaching and one-on-one coaching, and the benefits each can bring. You’ll learn why having a coach who also has a coach is crucial, and how this continuous cycle of growth and support can propel you forward.
We’ll discuss the common things that get in the way of our success and how coaching can help us overcome these hurdles. I’ll also share how my coaching experiences have shaped the development of my own coaching program, highlighting the importance of understanding your reasons for seeking a coaching program and how to choose the right coach for you.
Whether you’re new to coaching or considering it as your next step, this episode is packed with insights to help you harness the power of coaching for your business.

143: Embracing Growth: Overcome Imposter Syndrome as a Creative

143: Embracing Growth: Overcome Imposter Syndrome as a Creative

What do I wish I had known when I first started? That’s a big question! This topic was sparked by a heartfelt chat with a coaching client from The Professional Creative Business Coaching Program. We started wondering: what advice would I give my younger self at the start of this adventure? Today, I'll be sharing four key pieces of advice I wish I had known back then.
First off, it’s not going to be easy, but trust me, it will be worth it. I still get emotional thinking about those early days, full of hope and fear. Feedback can be tough, but it makes you stronger—don't shy away from it. I also wish someone had told me to focus on personal growth alongside business growth. Developing emotional intelligence, personal development, and spiritual well-being is just as crucial as professional success. And finally, there’s always room for you in the industry, no matter how crowded it seems. Join us as we explore these reflections and the wisdom that comes from navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
