#1569 You & Your Environment - Mary Van Lambaart
In this episode, Mary Van Lambaart and I discuss the importance of understanding the impact that our immediate environment can have on us, in terms of everything from physical, mental and emotional health, to factors like productivity, efficiency, creativity, focus and energy levels. We also talk about the pros and cons of 'traditional thinking and behaviour', the joy of getting rained on (literally), the social media blame game (is it about the platforms, or the users?), becoming one with nature, and the strategy I used (back in the day) to make my gyms less intimidating and more female friendly. Enjoy.

#1568 Anthropomorphising AI - Patrick Bonello
*Anthropomorphise (v.): to attribute human characteristics or behaviour to non-human entities. What do you think about the idea of people building ‘relationships' with Al? Having a non-human ‘friend' where it's possible to have, what seems to be (on an experiential level), a human-like meaningful conversation, connection and exchange, that literally makes someone who's lonely, isolated, sad, anxious and/or socially disconnected feel better? Happier? Less worried? A relationship that (as weird as it seems to us right now) makes their life experience more tolerable? Less painful? I'm already 'having conversations’ with ChatGPT 4.0 which, to be honest, are not too far removed from the experience of having a phone conversation with someone who’s much smarter than me! All that and more (with Patrick and Tiff) on today's ep. Enjoy.

#1567 Learning To Operate You - Harps & Tiff
Your body is always talking to you. It's always telling you what's ‘working' and what's not, when it comes to sleep, diet, exercise, lifestyle behaviours, stress, relationships and more. It's called biofeedback, and you and I have it at our disposal (whether we choose to pay attention is another issue). I've been learning to operate me for decades. My body has been telling, teaching and sometimes, screaming. More recently, l’ve been a good 'listener' but there were decades when I was a moron. Times when I was literally sabotaging my own health, function, immune system and performance with stupid choices, actions and habits. This conversation with Tiff turned out to be a ripper (IMHO).

#1566 Thinking Yourself Sick - Harps
I decided to record this podcast called in an attempt to unpack the very real and powerful (but largely unknown and undiscussed) relationship that exists between negative thinking and our body. It's been my experience, observation and research that chronic negative thinking might be (I say 'might') one of the leading (but undetected) drivers of (or psychological and physiological pathways to) physical dysfunction, disease and disaster. While it's pretty well established that thoughts have the power to heal, or at least positively influence health outcomes (I've interviewed several world-class experts on the topic of the placebo effect), what's not discussed so much is the potentially disastrous physical health outcomes of ongoing negative thinking (rumination, obsession, over-thinking, doom and gloom story-telling, self-loathing, hypothetical future problems). I'm of the opinion that greater knowledge, awareness and understanding about this issue is crucial, and if we can understand it, we can do something about it. Enjoy.

#1565 Australia's Phantom - Josh Piterman
Apart from playing the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera on the West End and in Australia, Tony in the West Side Story (Australia), Jean Valjean in Les Misérables (West End), being one of the world-renowned 'Ten Tenors', and starring in 'Cats' and 'Beautiful' (Australia) and Hairspray (UK), Josh Piterman is also a podcaster, mediocre dancer and deep-thinker, who's annoyingly handsome, funny and charming. Other than that, he's a dud. Enjoy.

#1564 Pleased To Meet Me - Dr. Bill Sullivan
Dr. Bill Sullivan is a world-renowned Scientist, Researcher, Educator and Author who graces us with his vast knowledge and wit on a monthly basis here at TYP, and I couldn't be more grateful. 'Pleased to Meet Me' (subtitle: germs, genes & the curious forces that make us who we are) is the title of his 2020 book and that (among other things) was the focus of our chat for this episode. Enjoy.
