003 : MBBS Abroad vs. MBBS India. Which is better for Indian students?

003 : MBBS Abroad vs. MBBS India. Which is better for Indian students?

Getting into MBBS is a starting point of becoming a doctor. But the Indian scenario is a little gloomy. You either have to be an absolute genius, so you can get into government medical college, or you need very deep pockets to get into a private one. The fundamental problem is that there are not enough seats both in private and government.

So, because of the rising cost and lower availability of seats, many students started flocking into foreign universities in countries like the Philippines, US, China, Germany, Nepal, Russia, Ukraine, Bangladesh, etc. The popularity of universities in these countries is slowly rising among Indian students.

002 : Why MBBS is so expensive in India and what is the alternative?

002 : Why MBBS is so expensive in India and what is the alternative?

In India every year around 14 to 15 lakh biology students appear for NEET, which is eligibility plus entrance test for MBBS, BDS & other Health Science programs in Indian medical colleges. From those 15 lakhs, people around half of them clear the examination but the problem is there are only 80,000 seats available in India for MBBS combining both government and private colleges. Lakhs of students compete for merely 80,000 seats and that drives up the price astronomically high. Private medical colleges in India get the benefit of large unfulfilled demand and unregulated fees. Also, it is extremely difficult to set up a fully functional medical college in India. These two factors play a major role in making the MBBS very costly in India.
