Double Scrubbing is a series for medical students interested in surgery. The Covid-19 pandemic led to cancellation of many programs that provided preclinical students with early surgery exposure. Double Scrubbing aims to fill that gap by interviewing Surgery faculty about their careers and common operations they perform. The hosts are Emily Papai and Bobby Ries; both are fourth year medical students at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Emily and Bobby are student leaders in the John H. Gibbon Jr. Surgical Society which facilitates surgical interest, activity, and education at the medical student level.
"Double Scrubbing with Emily & Bobby" Episode 1 features Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Tyler Grenda. Dr. Grenda is an Assistant Professor with the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. We interview Dr. Grenda about his experience in medical school and his decision to pursue a career in surgery. Dr. Grenda talks about his residency and fellowship training at the University of Michigan. Afterwards, Dr. Grenda walks the audience through a robotic segmentectomy. This episode also includes "#SurgTwitter Shout Out" and "Surgical Recall Trivia" segments.
