Sold Out For GOD | Ps Ajay Mathews | Anchor Faith India

Sold Out For GOD | Ps Ajay Mathews | Anchor Faith India

Pastor Ajay Mathews' sermon "Sold Out for God" likely draws from various Bible verses that emphasize total commitment and dedication to God. While I don't have specific information on this sermon, I can suggest some relevant Bible verses that might be central to his message:

    1. **Romans 12:1-2**: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

    2. **Matthew 16:24**: "Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'"

    3. **Luke 9:23**: "Then he said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.'"

    4. **Galatians 2:20**: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

    5. **Philippians 3:7-8**: "But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ."

These verses emphasize the idea of complete surrender, self-denial, and prioritizing God above all else, which align with the concept of being "sold out" for God.

Title: Jesus as the Humble King: Insights from Matthew 21:1-11

In Matthew 21:1-11, we encounter the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, an event commonly known as the Triumphal Entry or Palm Sunday. This passage not only serves as a pivotal moment in the life of Jesus but also offers profound insights into the characteristics of Jesus as a king.

The narrative begins with Jesus instructing his disciples to fetch a donkey and its colt, a symbolic act fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, which foretold the coming of the Messiah as a humble king riding on a donkey. This deliberate choice of transportation emphasizes Jesus' humility and servanthood, contrasting sharply with the pomp and grandeur associated with earthly kings.

As Jesus enters Jerusalem, a great multitude gathers, spreading their cloaks on the road and waving palm branches, symbols of honor and victory. The crowd's exuberant shouts of "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" reflect their recognition of Jesus as the promised Messiah and King.

One of the key characteristics of Jesus as a king revealed in this passage is his humility. Despite being the King of Kings, Jesus chooses humility over power, demonstrating his willingness to identify with the lowly and the marginalized. Riding on a donkey instead of a war horse signifies his intention to bring peace rather than conquest.

Furthermore, Jesus' compassion and concern for the broken and the marginalized are evident throughout his ministry, and particularly in this passage. His choice of mode of transportation, his interactions with the crowds, and his subsequent actions in the temple reveal a king who is not distant and aloof but intimately involved in the lives of his people.

Another characteristic of Jesus as a king highlighted in Matthew 21:1-11 is his authority. Despite his humble appearance, Jesus commands the attention and allegiance of the people. His actions fulfill Old Testament prophecies, affirming his divine authority as the long-awaited Messiah.

Moreover, Jesus' authority extends beyond earthly realms; he is the King of Heaven and Earth. His entry into Jerusalem marks the beginning of the culmination of God's redemptive plan, wherein Jesus, as the sacrificial lamb, will offer himself as the ultimate atonement for humanity's sins.

Additionally, Jesus' entry into Jerusalem foreshadows his eventual enthronement on the cross. Unlike earthly kings who seek glory through conquest and domination, Jesus achieves his victory through self-sacrifice and love. His kingdom is not of this world, but one characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

In conclusion, Matthew 21:1-11 provides profound insights into the characteristics of Jesus as a king. His humility, compassion, authority, and sacrificial love distinguish him from earthly rulers. As we reflect on the Triumphal Entry, may we be inspired to embrace Jesus not only as our King but also as our Savior and Lord, who reigns with justice and mercy for all eternity.

New Creation | Ps Ajay Mathews | Anchor Faith India

New Creation | Ps Ajay Mathews | Anchor Faith India

    Sermon Summary:

    Title: "New Creation"

    Summary:

In today's sermon, Senior Pastor Ajay Mathews delved into the theme of empowerment for purpose, drawing insights from the story of Saul's anointing in 1 Samuel 10:1-9. Pastor Ajay emphasized the significance of recognizing and embracing the divine empowerment bestowed upon believers to fulfill their God-given purposes.

Drawing from Saul's experience, Pastor Ajay highlighted three key points:

    1. **Divine Encounter**: Just as Samuel encountered Saul and anointed him with oil, believers are called to encounter God in a personal and transformative way. This encounter marks the beginning of our journey toward purposeful living.

    2. **Empowerment of the Spirit**: Saul received the Spirit of the Lord upon him, empowering him for the task ahead. Similarly, believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the unique purposes God has ordained for each individual.

    3. **Confirmation and Assurance**: Through various signs and confirmations, Saul received assurance that God was with him. Likewise, believers can find confidence and assurance in God's presence and guidance as they step into their callings.

Pastor Ajay emphasized that just as Saul was empowered for his specific purpose as king, each believer is uniquely equipped and empowered by God to fulfill their divine calling and contribute to His kingdom.

In conclusion, Pastor Ajay encouraged the congregation to seek encounters with God, rely on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and find confidence in God's confirmation of their purpose. As believers embrace their divine empowerment, they can boldly step into their God-given roles and impact the world around them for His glory.

    Verse Preached:

    1 Samuel 10:5 (NIV)

"After that you will go to Gibeah of God, where there is a Philistine outpost. As you approach the town, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place with lyres, timbrels, pipes and harps being played before them, and they will be prophesying."
