Time to adapt: A new way of addressing powerbalances to achieve sustainable diplomacy

Time to adapt: A new way of addressing powerbalances to achieve sustainable diplomacy

Thank you for listening to this podcast! My name is Sascha.

This podcast was made based on the panel of the Africa Knows! Conference. The panel: Sustainable diplomacy between Africa and Europe: what knowledge capabilities should be developed?

In this podcast I'm interviewing Samantha Ruppel,  a researcher and lecturer at the Goethe-University of Frankfurt with a focus on local peace processes, cooperation with international actors and power (im)balances on her findings in her research and paper 'Who got the power? Civil Society interactions in Kenya between partnership and power imbalance.'

In this podcast I'm trying to get a clearer understanding of the powerdynamics at play in development and peace projects, and how these powerdynamics need to be adapted to achieve sustainable diplomacy.
