We met in a cattle truck on a YMCA trip from San Pedro to San Francisco. Somehow we managed middle school, high school, college, and careers. We were homemakers, teachers, crafters, loose knitters, and earned our cankles with dirty martinis.

We survived the deaths of our parents, our dreams, our marriages. And we are now surviving the death of S’s beloved first born. Death is not the end, but a transformation; We are learning to live this new normal.
