Welcome and thank you for tuning into #CreativeInspo, Seconds to Courage, my name is Daisy Salvacion-Shields, I am your podcast host. I am also all-things-creative but what I love most is filmmaking, creating fabulous photoshoots and staying in-the-flow with creative inspiration. 
That's why I'm starting this podcast. I know how easy it is to fall into a rut thinking, there isn't enough, time, money, talent etc., to start that something that crossed your mind. You know what I'm talking about. The passing thought of, oh, that would be cool if I could, or, that would be so much fun, if only I had the talent. Here's the thing, you thought it. It's YOURS. Own it, whatever that may be. 
How? Truth is, I don't have a formulaic golden answer for you, but I am hoping to bring you some creative inspiration to get you started with the stories that I will share. My guests read aloud their personal account of when they changed career paths, or made other decisions that lead them to creating a life they love. I'm am also going to share prompts of 'Creativeinpso' along the way.
In my experience, the craziest, most insane decisions happen in just mere seconds. Yes it can be terrifying, and you won't have all the answers right away but the other side is sooo worth it. You are worth it and Courage is there to help you as soon as you're ready.

This week’s solo episode is in honour of Preganancy Loss and Awarness Month, I talk about my experiences with this but more importantly my miracle that happened. I became a mom. We had a daughter and named her Zia, which means light.
She’s our light that helped us in sooo.many.ways.

So aside from sharing my testimony that a whole year can look completely different, I wanted to offer this message for anyone on a fertility journey

You are not alone.

It’s not your fault.

There is nothing wrong with you.

You are not being punished.

You are loved.

You are love.

This week’s guest is Melanie Shields, she’s a scholar turned cda turned baker and she’s under 30.

This episode highlights how no matter what age you are, it’s important to listen to your inner voice when you feel uninspired. This can look like dreading going to work the next day, or having anxiety at work.

Melanie shares how you can overcome this with small steps by starting with doing things that you enjoy.

“I went through the whole phase of oh this is the universe telling me I shouldn’t do this, or I’m being redirected in some way and I should do it as a hobby and jus leave it at that, but I found kind a surprising amount of success on Etsy..and just wanted to dive into doing it on my own to prove it to myself that was still interested in making this career change and this is the direction I wanted to go.”

“That year of pause and exploration of what am I interested in, is it cookies? is it bread? is it chocolate? is it this or that? Just did nothing but cement the idea that this is exactly what I want to do.”

Creativeinspo Message #6 is, Try, Try Again. This is for everyone who has experienced failure, in any capacity. 

I touch on three ways you can find the confidence to get up and try again and apply it to your creative journey. 

I talk about a personal experience I had and also, in regards to being a new mom, yes that’s happening soon!!! I know I can apply these things in those moments when I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing as well. When maybe perhaps, I might feel like a failure.

This week's guest is Lori Laskowsky, a visual artist who paints pictures of dreamy beach fronts, cozy homes, adorable pet portraits and more! But it wasn't always like that, having been through the toughest of times in her life, Lori sought out solitary serene walks to clear her mind and find motivation. This eventually led to her channeling the courage she needed to put herself out there, offering up her artistic talents, and the world is better for it!

If you've struggled with the term starving artist, or felt shy to call yourself an artist, Lori's story will inspire you to find your voice to DO YOUR THING!!
